Hmm. Curious. I hadn't noticed before that their pupils are actually kinda wiggly, not slits like a feline...
I coulda sworn that you'd posted a pic taken in low light to feature their pupils in a more open state, so I went back through your gecko pics to find it and couldn't. But now I've OD'd on cuteness

They're built a bit like a Venus flytrap, with "teeth" that make up the jagged edges: [link]

Ok. Duh. I was so mesmerized by all the cuteness that it didn't occur to me to enlarge one of those two pics. Interesting that you can't really see the "teeth" when they're enlarged that much -- even on your avatar the "teeth" seem much less pronounced then when they're at their minimum. Anyway, don't know what made me notice it this time, but it was a nice excuse to go back thru all your pics. You're a good photographer, and you have pretty adowable models.

Are you talking about the crests over the eyes? "Eyelashes"? Some geckos just have larger ones than others - when hatchlings first emerge, they have little nubbins instead of sharp-looking (I say sharp-looking because they're actually very soft) crestage

No, not the "eyelashes" -- the pupils. In your avatar the pupil is slightly more open than it is in this pic, and doesn't have quite the wiggliness to it. And in your link -- where they're open all the way (or at least nearly all the way), they look like smooth 'circles' (not quite round, but no wiggly edge).
But yeah, now that you mention it, I had never noticed that geckos have "eyelashes" until I saw your pics -- they definitely add to the cuteness factor. On the other hand they also have a lot of veins in their eyeballs -- more pronounced at least than they are in mammals' eyeballs... It's cool that you share with us such good close-ups so that we can see all these details...
