my favored medium has always been ceramic, I feel like I should make a move into other clays, how easy would the shift to using super sculpey be for me do you think?

I really love working with Sculpey..your transition would not be too hard I think. You work with the piece until you're satisfied with it, then you bake it in a toaster oven (or regular kitchen oven). It has a rather plastic feel to it in it's uncured state. if you don't like something after you've baked it..remove the area you don't like, rough up the surface a bit, push some fresh Sculpey on, resculpt then rebake.
