Thank you,,, it is a mirrored image, easy to do, and turns out wonderful if you have a great fractal to work with

Hi, thanks!!!! I used Apophysis to make the initial fractal and then mirrored it in PS. thanks for adding me to your Friends List too!

senoritafish [2005-08-23 00:08:53 +0000 UTC]

This would be nice to see on my butterfly bush - if it bloomed this year, that is, which it didn't.

I can see where someone else saw a "killer bug" though, three lobes in the wings might be taken for large fringy legs. I wouldn't say killer though - too pretty.

Casperium In reply to senoritafish [2005-08-23 01:30:38 +0000 UTC]

lol oh well, some of the meanest killers out there do so by luring the prey in with their lovely colors...as you well know...lol.. Thanks!

Oh that's it...rub it in...This is PHENOMENAL !! I'm getting so frustrated by my own lack of results in apophysis...HELP!! pleez pleez pleez

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Casperium In reply to DaveH3D [2005-08-22 06:31:18 +0000 UTC]

Sorry,, not trying to rub it in.... I shall help, but I need to know what you are having problems with,,, I know you downloaded the Repository..probably what we should do is pick a flame, share it and then i can try and help based on it... Most of the time it is pure RANDOM LUCK!!! My butterflies are one flame that i multiplied as layers in Photoshop and overlapped them and rotated them so as to make a butterfly/moth. Any wing like flame can be used this way....

DaveH3D In reply to Casperium [2005-08-22 14:46:26 +0000 UTC]

Ohhhhhhhhhhh......hmmmm... okay...

Well I get that the "transforms" in Apophysis are triangles that can be positioned, etc., although I don't necessarily understand the secondary values - I have tried arranging them in even increments, however as soon as I cycle through them, everything gets messed up...I have tried several different gradient maps for coloring from random images, had fun with that, but overall, what I really want to accomplish is a very sharply defined fractal, as opposed to the misty, wispy, ethereal patterns I have been getting.

Where can we start?

And thank you, by the way, for the help and feedback - it means alot!

Casperium In reply to DaveH3D [2005-08-22 17:40:26 +0000 UTC]

First off the wispy-ness ( as -far -as -I -can -tell -and -I -am- no- expert)) comes from the gamma being to high.
Best spot for it is between 2.0 and 2.5... play with that for a bit and let me know how that looks.
Render settings are important too and your final pic will look much better than in your previews.
Render setting should be Quality 2000 ( or 5000 if you have a fast puter) Filter radius 0.2 and Oversample 2
You can also punch up your color by fiddling with the saturation and hue etc... when you open up the gradient window, you see a lever that says Rotate, click on it and you will see other options, play with those.
Ok that is lesson one for today... play and let me know how it goes...
