I agree - looks like I'm in the pond with it - but truth is, the pond is built up sso it was easy to get to eye level without having to lie in duckypoo.

Cheers

That's why I wear berghaus waterproof trousers even in the summer. I can lie down and not worry about what I'm lying in lol

LOL - I don't have any such thing - the only thing I have thats waterproof is my ski gear - and i'd look real funny wearing that in Auckland LOL

Ducks are generally a very common subject and thus kind of boring. But this is such a great photo! I love the choice of focus and the way you captured this bird. the pond scum even looks good and adds color. bravo!
ps. what kind of duck is this? Im guessing its a female. It kind of looks like the mallard ducks we have here.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

carterr In reply to proverbialcheese [2007-04-19 22:04:44 +0000 UTC]

This is the male. The female is much more drab - you can't see it but this duck has beautiful coloured feathers on its back. I agree with you with duck photos - but the reason this one turned out was because I was at eye level with it. The pond it was on was built up and I was able to crouch down, and put my camera on the wall and be at eye level. Sort of helps the perspective

proverbialcheese In reply to carterr [2007-04-19 22:41:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes thats what is missing in most duck shots. cuz nobody wants to crouch down with all the duck droppings around.

Thanks - glad you like it. I was lucky as the wall of hte pond he was on was built up so I was able to crouch down and get to be at his eye level, which I think helped the perspective of this shot

The water on this shot is fascinating as well, the green look that it has, almost makes it look like the duck is in a sea of grass. (or perhaps I'm just taking the wrong medication today. ) Great shot.

yeah. Had to go to the pharmacy today and get a knee support - it's sore

icemother In reply to carterr [2007-04-20 10:49:03 +0000 UTC]

My daughter is supposed to strap her knees every day which takes 20mins at least, and especially if playing sport (which is not really in her best interest but she loves it and takes the risk with some things)... braces are not good enough.... if you were here we could both teach you how to stap a knee.
