Description Managed to snap the pair of them. I waited around for ages hoping they'd come back to no avail.


Just found out that these two finches were wild. I was in an Australian Aviary at the zoo, and I just thought that they were part of the show. However I went back yesterday to try and get some more shots of them, to find that the aviary only houses parrots, and smaller birds like sparrows and finches can come and go as they please. These two had just come to pinch the parrots/Lorikeets food, so I got lucky

Yay, wild zeebs! I have lots of Zebra Finches as pets, so it's cool to see them out in the wild. The wild ones have much redder eyes.

amazing bright colors. i've seen these birds many times and always imagined they'd make for some gorgeous photos (like this one), but they never hold still for me.

Zebras are wonderful birds. I raised them for many years (they aren't native here).

Thank you. I took this in an aviary at the zoo (australian aviary). i went back last week to get some more, but when I went back I noticed the netting wasn't that small and that sparrows can come in and out as they please. No Zebra finches were around, and that was when I realised that these two males were actually wild, come down to feast on the parakeets food in this aviary, so I think I was very lucky

Thank you. Yess if you do want to photograph birds or wildlife - you do need a camera with a telephoto lens that is fast.
