for 's contest
we were to guess what might hatch from this egg:

so heres my idea
after succession of dragon-like chirimo breeding they eventually branch off into a sub-species "chiryomi"
[which has the japanese word for "dragon"(ryo) in it and you can spell "chirimo" with the letters lol] and are dragons now, which is why this one was born an egg and not a live cub.

usually the coloring/pattern of the egg itself is the coloring of the creatures skin, horns, paw-pads, and inner ear; the rest of the colors play off that main color scheme
