Description The very last time I had access to Cartoon Network before I moved out to the boonies, Escaflowne: The Movie was shown. I was blown away, even though I missed the last 20 minutes of the film.

I really liked the character design, and even though it had giant robots (or robot-like things) in it, which I'm not really into, I loved it.

So I decided that while I watched it for the umpteenth time on DVD I'd give Van a try. I like how he turned out.

Never seen the series, but I'd like to.

Although I didn't care for the movie as much as the show, Van was WAY cooler in the movie. Much more badass.

Ah! I also got in Escaflowne after I watched the movie. You should definitely get the series - even buy it if there's no other way to get a hold of it! It's really great - heart-bending, you know? I loved it!

I've only seen half the series, but I did see the movie. Both have nothing to do with each other, though the movie was good. The series isn't nearly as dark and the animation style isn't as realistic. However, I like the plot of the anime a bit better, though I've only seen half of it. If you want to see the series, there are 8 DVDs all in all, at an average cost of $9 to $14 depending on where you look.

MOVIE!VAN (!!!!) I am such a fan of him, and I don't see him sketched all that much! This one is cool. It's really neat to see him done in your style.

The series is very good...although the story is rather different. The movie is alternate universe, and it's a lot darker and artsier, IMHO. Van is a lot more hardcore badass in the movie...Folken is rather precious in the series, and Allen is a jerk in the series. (I love him in the movie! ) But it's worth seeing! If you saw it in English first, did you get a kick out of the main couple being voiced by Kelly Sheriden and Kirby Morrow (Sango and Miroku)? I know I did.

Meheheh.. When I heard Kirby's voice I perked up. When I heard Kelly's I burst into hysterical laughter. I guess they just work good together. XD

*L* I guess they do. And usually up against Paul Dobson. And you heard Kikyou as Hitomi's best friend at the beginning? Hurray for Kirby and Kelly characters getting together!

Looks good. ^_^
The series was much better than the movie in my opinion.. I dont like it when companies try to cram an entire series into a two hour (give or take) movie. It ruins the plot, and butchers the characters personalities (sometimes) The characters int eh movie and in the series are almost exactly oppositte, Hitomi int he series wasnt depressive, Van wasnt so blood thirsty, and Oh.. dammit, what was her name.. Milerna..? Its been so long.. XD wasnt.. like that. O.o in the series, sexy and dominant, I mean.
The series was ofcourse, much more involved, comedy intermixed with deep emotional torrents and feelings. I recomend the series definately. The movie wasnt -bad- at all, I own the thing afterall, but Im just stating the facts of what was different, and why I like it better. ^^
But no matter what, they kept Merle the -exact- same. XD.

Both the movie and the series were great. The movie was oh so pretty and the series - lots of twists and fun. Fun being action, adventure, mystery, death and love. Yup.

I love his pose in this - it's so serious and threatening!

Whee... Escaflone! Nice pose on this; looks like he's getting ready to kick some ass.

You can't get Cartoon Network where you live? That sucks! I would lapse into a coma and DIE if I couldn't watch Adult Swim.

No, we get a grand total of 37 channels (and that's all that's available) and Cartoon Network isn't one of them. I was rather depressed *L* But SUPPOSEDLY Comcast cable is updating their systems over here so digital cable will be available to us by the end of the year. I'm not keeping my hopes up, though. *L*

Ugh. Well, at least there's always Netflix, right?

You should contact the cable company and request Cartoon Network. If enough people ask for a channel they'll start carrying it. But hopefully you'll get digital and you won't have to worry about it.
