Vali reminds me loosely of a character that me and a buddy kind of designed on a whim when a butterfly/moth got into my house while I was on the phone with her and was trying to get into my dishwasher. Fred the Vampire.

I'm not sure how a suicidal butterfly and a vampire are connected, but... hey. We're all mad here.

It's the whole perspective thing. I get into a rush like a nerd and then forget what I'm saying and what I just saw. Laziness forbids me to go back and look until I get called on it.

Hahaha, he was mostly just a blurb... I don't remember much about him. What I do remember, however, is how I pictured him, which is roughly what Vali looks like.

Psh, I've got enough characters to make you want to jump out in front of a bus.

Aw damn XD However, it is encouraging to know that out there is a vampire who is not a pale-skinned black-haired so-goth-s/he-shits-bats individual. I'm thinking of submitting one of my vampires to UnnoticedOC, once I get something of him coloured.

Haha, well, which do you want to hear about? My newest is Cynasism, a paranoid follower of Sickness, a succubus who causes people to kill themselves. Kasia, who's compassion fails her (which ends up allowing Sickness into her body, essentially making her Sickness,) or Drykah, her demon possessed lover. There's Michael, personified death with a jealous streak and Serakon, ruler of Dimonyia or essentially Satan. Razor, who uses his logic to avoid terrible circumstances.... And that's only a few! (My explanation of how Kasia becomes Sickness kind of sucked XD)

XD I probably should. He was kind of a fun escape into a fun world, where things aren't so dramatic. A little bit of unorganized chaos is always fun. XD

Well... Let's see. Long story short, I suppose. God, this is going to sound super gay. It always does when I try to explain it.

I guess the world should sort of be explained first...

In Aorai, their laws are essentially backwards from here. There are kings and queens, however the queen has the dominant power as they show less weaknesses in the race. Dragonketra's are dwindling due to a vampire uprising and cross breeding with other races, leaving very few purebloods. Males are particularly vunerable, as their wings are more sensative and the bases of their tails contain their reproductive organs. (hahaha, humanoid dragons. As if THAT has never been heard of before.)

The vampires (though they're not technically vampires, but whatever) suffer from an extreme form of anemia, caused by the virus that they pass with their saliva. This causes their blood iron to be lower, which forms in them a sort of crazed pica syndrome, in which they crave warm blood. (No one wants it congealed.) I have a whole big theory of how vampires work, but it would take a lot of time to explain.

Basically, Drykah, being the king, needs to find himself a queen and fast, because if he doesn't, he'll lose the throne. Unfortunately, this is not linear with his man-whoring ways. Blah blah blah eventually he finds and marries Kasia, though he doesn't realize at first that she's Michael's sister and therefor Serakon's daughter. Serakon is getting tired of ruling Dimonyia, mostly because he didn't want to rule it in the first place (essentially it being Hell,) .... Oh God, I sound so stupid.

Longer story short, Drykah becomes demon possessed and consumes his and Kasia's daughter, then stabs Kasia through the heart and leaves her to die. Belila finds her dying, finds it convienent that a mortal body is placed before her, so she enters Kasia, causing them both to lose their memories (for the most part), which deforms Kasia into Sickness. Her wings begin to rot away as does her tail, her eyes become covered with cataracts, and she can't stop grinning. Her first victim refers to her as a "Sickness", which is where she got her name.

Shenanigans ensue where Sickness fucks with an angel, she causes a lot of people to kill themselves, and stumbles upon a mortal dying from an arterial spurt, whom she infects with herself, causing him to become something of a half-incubus. (There's more to it than that... Ugh, I hate me.)

Oh God, just tell me about your characters XD I'm sure they're much more interesting.

<333 oh man your comments are making my night. I'm gonna have to go back and go through them tomorrow, but for now, yeah, I really do need to use reference for top hats XD I do not know why, since I wear them a lot, but hats confuse the hell outta me to draw.

And yes, Vali's sweet - kind, selfless, empathic, and generous to a fault. He's also a snarky perfectionist workaholic who can't mind his own business. It all comes out in the wash.

I'd say just set it down and start drawing it from different angles. Hats, especially top hats are tricky things that can really get away from you if you don't practice : P

Yeah XD That's a damn good idea. Just wait, you'll get a page of hat sketches that have developed little crablegs, and eyes up on stalks. I mean seriously. Hats would make the cutest damned crustaceans and I weirdify everything I touch.

Thanks! It took a long time to get the pose any semblance of right, and I'm sure there are still a million and one anatomical errors, but it proved an extremely enjoyable challenge, and your comment is making me grin hard enough to sprain my face. A glimpse of their lives was exactly what I was aiming for - these two wind up engaged for fifteen years, until his death, but this is the first time they've danced, before they've acknowledged to themselves, far less each other, that they're more to one another than acquaintances who like to get up to rated-R activities on a Friday night.
