A very personal piece about stress, responsibility, and high expectations from myself and others. Sometimes it all weighs on you, culminating until even a little touch can shatter you.

I chose Hartley for this because out of all my characters, he is the most similar to me. I have put so much of myself into him, sometimes intentionally, sometimes subconsciously. He's like a tall, chubby version of me, haha. He is very special to me, to say the least.

This could be interpreted as him being a reflection of me, or as him being on the other side of the glass. When I was feeling this stress, I felt so alone even though people were all around me. At that time, I wanted nothing more than for Hartley to be real, to break the glass between fiction and reality and talk to me for a while. He knows what this feels like. He would know what to say, and how to be comforting.
