Description Trade with of his character Shelby, who is probably very, very cold right now. And being hobbled doesn't make for good running away either...

At least the kidnapper had heat in the cabinΒ

Hobbled in a snowy forest, unable to call for help or use her arms makes for a marvelously distressing situation. You even added fog breath!

She must not slip.Β  She'd likely be sitting a long time on the snow before she manages to stand up again.Β

(Of course, there are ways to warm up againΒ the parts that get frozen, but at the moment, neither her schoolmaster nor hisΒ paddle are anywhere to be seen.)

Like everyone else said, I love the drama in this scene. Running away tied up, presumably from her abductors and their cabin hideout, hoping to get to the main road, or another house, or ANYTHING before they catch up to her. The ropes combined with her horribly impractical outfit (And lack of shoes) shows this was a spur-of-the-moment, one-shot opportunity to escape.

I like the forest, and the mud on her socks as well. All in all, fine work.

I'm not sure what to say here... I mean, I like that she's running through cold muck in her socks and that she's tied up, but she's got to be colod!

That's a great picture. Her breath freezing as it comes out past the gag is a wonderful touch that really makes you feel the cold. Excellent detail, and a great piece of work!

I love the drama in this picture. She's clearly been kidnapped and is trying to make a run from the cabin/van in the woods. Will she make it to the main road on time, or will her captors catch her before she's spotted? Her feet must be freezing -- I love the dirty, soiled socks. It's got to be agony for her, but her will to survive is telling her to press on against it all. Great pic!

that's odd.... I swear I wrote "find out" rather than "find you" ... that's what I meant, in any case. I think I must be losing it a little in my old age :s

um, no, wait, that wasn't it...
heh, I was going by the Japanese film custom that the horror you don't see, of only get the tiniest glimpse of, is far worse than if it were just shown to you. Plus, I'm lazy and this way I didn't have to draw too much!

What a silly girl, to put on such a short skirt when it's snowing outside
Nice detailed background.

I know... I copied her clothes from Oomshifter's basic model of her, but then when I painted the background it somehow became snowier and colder... I feel rather sorry for her!

A-l-e-x-99 [2007-11-05 14:21:53 +0000 UTC]

Something's awkward about this picture. Her legs don't look like they're tied up and she looks like she's running away normally.

If you're trying to imply that she managed to break her legs free, well, okay then. But your Artist's Comments imply that she should be hopping away.

That's the only problem I find. Everything else looks good, though.

Caregan In reply to A-l-e-x-99 [2007-11-05 16:27:09 +0000 UTC]

you wouldn't hop with a hobble...

(that could almost be the tagline from an advert...)

From ~Caregan :
(that could almost be the tagline from an advert...)
O RLY? That would sound funny! "You can't hop with a hobble!" Now all we need is for someone to actually draw it...!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Caregan In reply to A-l-e-x-99 [2007-11-05 17:40:03 +0000 UTC]

Well, you could hop if you really wanted to, but you wouldn't (quite) need to. The marketing might be a bit odd:
"Are you bored of walking normally? Why not meet new friends by falling over in public? Practice your agility and balance without taking time out to go to the gym! Available in a range of colours!"

eawyne In reply to A-l-e-x-99 [2007-11-05 14:46:13 +0000 UTC]

She's hobble tied, which means she can make steps, but shortened ones. Maybe isn't it too obvious, but personaly, I found it worked well on this drawing

This implies some sympathy for her, for running might have given some warmth.... *o* What is she running away from anyway ?

Nice, all in all ^^ SKimpy dessed, distress obvious... poor lady ^^

Caregan In reply to eawyne [2007-11-05 16:26:08 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for doing the explaining for me
Yes, hopefully the running will warm her up a bit, but no shoes in snow is pretty nasty... I feel guilty now!
I don't know what she's running from - right now she's concentrating on the running away part!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

eawyne In reply to Caregan [2007-11-05 17:21:51 +0000 UTC]

Sorry I've stolen your role

Not only has she no shoes, but her socks are quite long =O They're gonna get wet in no time, and froze her legs even more *o* I hope her captor(s) are not running after her too fast (in spite it would probably save her from a cold fate)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Caregan In reply to eawyne [2007-11-05 17:41:36 +0000 UTC]

that's ok! I wasn't looking forward to explaining... I thought it looked clear enough, but I did draw it...

Lets hope that her rescuers/captors/passing wildlife can give her a warm drink and lend her some dry shoes, should they encounter her!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

eawyne In reply to Caregan [2007-11-05 18:31:06 +0000 UTC]

It's all we hope for her... but not too soon ^^

It's funny to talk like that on a situational drawing, especially on that subject XD Should I have known, I would've come earlier on dA
