What I mean is do you think in the upcoming RWBY volume 5 that Yang wil join her mother Raven as a reunion?

I'd give anything for Raven to actually be like this. To me, there's a bit of human in her that actually seems to care about her daughter. Of course, there's her twisted definition of "family."

Something tells me this would never happen. Yang's mother is too cold-hearted for this. Her whole, "the strong survive and the weak die" policy would forbid this kind of behavior. Considering Yang lost her arm.Β

1. Yang clearly hasn't lost her arm in this picture, judging by the fact that...um...Yang has two arms.
2. I've been out of touch with RWBY for a volume and a half. Holy frak on a cracker, is that something they put in a character's mouth? Unironically?
π: 0 β©: 1
GothicFear836 In reply to GreatWyrmGold [2017-05-03 03:03:37 +0000 UTC]
It doesn't matter. It is made clear in the show that her mother cares vary little for her. She even made sure to make it clear to her brother that the first time she saved her was the last time. She has made it clear that as far as she is concerned, until Yang becomes as strong as she is, Yang is not her daughter.Β

GreatWyrmGold In reply to GothicFear836 [2017-05-03 13:57:26 +0000 UTC]
So the not-caring-ness isn't related to the one-arm-ness, like you implied?

Her thought process makes no sense! It's way too backwards for me to understand. Either she is the biggest hypocrite in the world, or she knew it was better for her to not be in Yang's life.

I vote hypocrite. In my book, the way RT dropped Weiss's deep-set racism the moment she started to recognize it has cost them any benefit of the doubt where nuanced characters are concerned.

I hate bringing more drama into their lives but...
Raven is probably not going to be like this. Even her own twin brother doesn't have a high opinion of her, her only interaction with her daughter basically amounts to "I don't love you so fuck off" and judging by what Qrow said, She hasn't contacted Taiyang since abandoning him.

Well, she did go out of her way to save Yang at least once. In my mind, Raven's message to Yang was more along the lines of "Get good."

Doesn't really excuse her telling Yang off so harshly without being there as well as being a shitty sister as well, making her own brother do it while she never informs him intentionally where she's going leaving him in the dark.
And don't even get me started on what she did to Taiyang.

It's cute, but I'm willing to bet that Raven is evil as fuck. Even Qrow said that she was "dangerous", saying as much to Yang's face. You don't just call someone dangerous for no reason, especially when you are as much of a badass as Qrow is. I could see her becoming a secondary antagonist, trying to manipulate a now isolated Yang, no longer under the positive influence of her friends and sister. What for? I can't say for sure, but we know one thing for certain; both Qrow and Neopolitan are afraid of her. That's not something to overlook.

Perhaps a evil vs evil situation? Maybe she's been fighting Grimm too long, she started going really dark, and Taiyang kicked her out fearing for his daughters safety?
It would also explain why Yang could never find her... Ozpin worked his ass off to keep Raven away. But now that Ozpin is gone...

AutumnStorm-95 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2016-07-10 03:51:04 +0000 UTC]
Hm, could be. I think it's possible some "business" (putting it lightly) went down between team STRQ a long time ago. For example, Yang is 2 years older than Ruby (it is presumed that it's pretty close to exactly 2 years, since they age up at around the same time). So that means Summer got pregnant barely over 1 year after Yang was born. Keep in mind, Raven and Taiyang were still together until shortly after Yang was born. So, in the year-and-half, we'll call it, between Taiyang and Raven's breakup and Ruby's conception, Taiyang got over Raven, got with Summer (this could be a shorter than average dating period, since they were already close friends), decided to get married (probably not right away, most engagement periods last many months, but again this could have been shorter for them) and then they had a child together. Following the traditional path to starting a family, this could be seen as rather... Fast? What I'm saying is that there may have been some... "dishonesty" In Taiyang and Raven's relationship towards it's end.
Anyway, I definitely agree with the idea of an "evil vs evil" scenario, I think that's very likely. In my head I imagine a scenario where Raven makes it seem like she's on the side of good, trying to take down Cinderfall, only to reveal that she is just as evil, if not more so, and takes over the reigns of primary antagonist later on in the series until Salem steps in during the final arc. Though that does leave open the question of how Salem gets involved in the series. In that case, it's possible Raven is found out prematurely, causing her plans to be foiled. This could lead into a redemption story for Raven, where her maternal instincts prevail over her dark past and she gives herself up for the greater good. I think she's very likely to die at some point during the series, for one reason or another.

I do believe Yang reuniting with her mother and going with her after she reveals the truth will be a big part of Yang's development. Yang is very vulnerable right now, so having her mother coming back revealing that Yang was purposely kept way from her mom by Ozpin and perhaps Tai, Qrow, Glynda and Summerwould push Yang over the edge. Playing right into Ravens hands.
Then under Ravens tutelage Yang goes bad for awhile until someone shakes her out of it, likely Ruby.
Thoughts?
