Description Just an ordinary day?

Practicing mountains mostly, but I spent way too much time on this (3 hrs). Could have come up with a better ship design. I keep finding it hard to just call it finished (as an exercise in finishing a picture every day) because I just dont think its good enough to put up.

Critiques I'm looking for are on color and lighting, or general technique I guess.

Anywho, enjoy.

it reminds me of that scene in Howl's Moving Castle where Howl takes Sophie to his little cabin place with the wide meadow and there is a ship flying near it.

Heh, I didn't even think of that, and it's one of my favorite movies! Perhaps subconsciously Thanks!

Peaceful... until you see that spaceship, it has a whole other feeling to it when you notice that . It's an amazing piece, I love the way you put a lot of fantasy in you sceneries.
Maybe you should let the spaceship stand out a little bit more, not much, but it looks like it's part of the sky.

yea I agree, I wasn't working on a color accurate monitor and didn't notice how much it blended in until the next day. I'll remember that next time, thanks for the compliments!

At once the cartoon film was recollected "Howl’s Moving Castle"

Interesting, I think I can see what you mean, the color palette is similar. I did want to do something with bright colors and I do love that movie so thank you

My one critique is that the background blue of the sky seems a bit pale and uniform, but I really love the light from the ship on the mountains

fair enough I should have known to go back into it, I'll remember that for next time for sure. Thanks!

That is very amusing. I sat admiring the landscape for five minutes before I noticed the ship, and it really made me look twice.

hah thanks, my boyfriend gave me that idea
boyfriend: "oh that looks kinda cool. kinda boring"
me: "sorry I'm just practicing landscapes"
boyfriend:" yea well there should be like an alien invasion or something"

voila! he is my muse.
