Life has been crazy..
But here's a little something I did between homework. Just a patriotic array of feathers. (Not really)
I had this eagle sketch lying around for-ever and wanted to finish it... but figured extra colors would be fun-- so hey why not?! I'm rather annoyed that my camera plus a combination of bad lightning ended up washing out a lot of the colors and completely eliminating others. Including the violet that I had mixed in with the blue that just looks like blue here.. Meh.
There's nothing more fun than speedpaints I swear!

Media: Moleskine 5" x 8" inch watercolor sketchbook, Pencil, M Graham Gouache, Winsor & Newton Masking Fluid (for those blob-like "stars" lol), Winsor & Newton Series 7 brush, Princeton Art & Brush Co. Brushes, Artist's Loft Brush Total Time: 1-2 hours (somewhere in between.. I lost track while indulging in the feathers and details.. oops! xD)

the detail in the beak and eye (general face area) is extremely well done! I love how there's just a hint of the flag in the background

hehe I sort of commented on this, but I felt like leaving a little comment since I haven't in forever o:
I just really love the hues! Very vibrant of course, but they all compliment each other so well, especially where they blend together toward the beak & neck~
& washed out colors or not, the ones visible are still gorgeous.

Can only get more American if there were shotguns and footballs painted on either side.

Thank you! The colors actually didn't come out as well as they did in person thanks to bad lighting and camera :/ I had some nice violets with the blues but it all turned out like blue here xD

Ah scanners .. well I haven't used a good scanner but they take in detail and color better with some edits I suppose? Generally speaking they work better yes and are recommended if you want a high res flat image that's not distorted by the camera lens and whatnot.
