Not to be confused with Funshine Bear, Sunshine Bear is another golden-yellow bear with a sun with big rays on her tummy.
Sunshine Bear is the weather bear. She lives on Summer Island, where it is summer all year long. Her house’s roof is covered with the best solar panels. She loves being outdoors with friends, and is very sociable. She loves sunrises better than sunsets, but still admires sunsets.
Sunshine Bear represents the feeling of happiness when one is in the sunlight, or when one sees sunshine dappled through a canopy of trees. She is the general happiness of bright sunny days, and spending time outdoors.
She also represents the feeling of when weather affects one’s mood. She is happy on sunny days, and sad when it rains. She wants to be accurate with weather all of the time.
Her kind of happiness is the calm type. She likes to use all of the sunlight during the day that she can, so she is always up when the sun rises. She knows that dark times won’t last forever.
She is outgoing, the outdoors-y type, easily excited, hopeful, generally happy, yet has mood swings depending on the weather, nit-picky, and is a little scared of the dark. She can get in the way of things without meaning to.

Inspiration: Funshine Bear’s “wrong” name

Backstory:
Sunshine Bear was born on the island of Summer, in the town of Summerset. The Island of Summer is equivalent to the Hawaiian Island Hawai’i. Her loving parents, Light Hearted Bear, and Glow-a-lot Bear, run a luxury spa resort. While she’s not related to Funshine Bear, they are best friends. Sunshine Bear used to be male when Funshine was female. Sunshine transitioned to female as Funshine transitioned to male. Sunshine has always had a fascination with weather since she was a cub, and learned to cloud-gaze. Even though weather is considered “small talk”, Sunshine is still very much interested in the subject.
Sunshine is also friends with Amigo Bear, and Shine Bright Bear who both come to visit the spa regularly.
Fun fact: She finds it strange how Bedtime Bear can nap on the moon, but no Bear has gone to visit the sun.
