Wow, that's pretty gruesome to look at, after just having read the WikiPedia entry on Richard Chase.
Anyway, remember me -- from way back on T-blog? Well guess what city I'm living in? I can understand Chase's dementia. This city is awfully mind-numbing (sanity-numbing). It amazes me the number of violent crimes that happen here. Gangs and nutcases and whatnot.
Damn boy, you've really developed as an artist. And to think, I recognized this talent when you were but a teen. So glad you've stuck with it.

Actually, I'm rather fond of Sacramento. It's quite pretty - there's a reason it's called "City of a Thousand Trees." Anyone who complains about Sacramento hasn't living anywhere with serious crime. East LA, Oakland, etc. Even South Sac, supposedly one of the worse areas, doesn't hold a candle to some of the decent places in Oakland in terms of ghetto-ness, gangs, drugs, murders, crime, etc. As for mind-numbing, entertainment is what you create.

The trees and even some old downtown architecture have nothing to do with it. That's all great. It's the people here and "culture" that are mind numbing (though this has improved in about the past five years, with more modern ideas from a younger generation becoming active in, for example, 2nd Saturday). I think the people who stick up for Sacto haven't lived in more cosmopolitan places. At least, such places energize me more. Places with major museums (please, do NOT say "the Crocker"!), major symphonies and universities with proper "funky" neighborhoods around them, for example.. and so on. If one understands what I'm talking about (and there are such similar thinking people here), then you understand. If you don't, you just don't. I find a lot of people here who just don't recognize the absence of that vibe that I don't find here. They've never felt it, so how can they spot its absence? Or, they just don't need it as much as I.
