Actually Goku is in character, he was out of character in the American dub but I still prefer American dub Goku to original Goku.

Well... let's say you've made a story.
And then someone makes a comic out of it.
Would you like that the characters that you've written became much more different in the comic, but it's the version that fans like the most.
But you still wanted your own characters to be made your own way, and then someone says "Sorry, but your original version of character sucks, i prefer the comic version"

Maybe. I heard Toriyama doesn't like how Goku is portrayed the way he is in the dub. Also Goku isn't that much of an asshole in Super Just seems that way with the way things have been going. But still I prefer the dub Goku.

Actually, no. The Japanese version of DBZ made Goku just as noble as the english dub did. The early dub however times it by 11. Its the manga version that potteries Goku the way Toriyama originally intended. As much as I respect Toriyama, I too like anime Goku better.
As someone how has been close to the anime for 15 years, Goku is acting pretty much in character how he was portrayed in the original anime in Super. So far even in the dub as well.
