EmpathyTale is an UnderTale AU where Anne Himari is the only human remaining in the underground however they were not the last, but rather the first. Long before the rumors sparked, Anne was a human experiment done by none other than the royal scientist, W.D. Gaster. After a horrific incident at the lab one night, Anne ran away from the lab. After running away, they encountered Toriel: the Caretaker of the ruins. They didn't have a choice but to leave the underground until the barrier could be broken once more

The incident: One night in the lab, W.D. Gaster was filing some paperwork and was making sure Anne's soul remained stable and healthy. He was preparing a certain serum for Anne once she woke up. However h heard a large crashing noise nearby and injected it inside them at the very last minute, causing them to shriek in pain. He demanded them to attack whatever was going on in the lab but Anne couldn't muster out a single word as the pain was too unbearable. He had to wait until the patient was conscious but it was too late. In a panic, Anne ran out of the lab and was nowhere to be seen.
