The word ' Hedge Witch' may have its roots in the Saxon word 'haegtessa' which means 'hedge-rider'.

Shamans are often regarded as a type of Hedge Witches, thanks to their ability to communicate with spirits that most of us can't see.

The Hedge Witch usually has a good plant knowledge and is drawn to medicine and healing.

Bewitched, Bothered, and Biscotti (Magical Bakery Mystery #2) , by Bailey Cates

As a new witch—not to mention owner of Savannah’s most enchanting bakery—Katie Lightfoot is still getting used to casting spells, brewing potions, and mastering her magical powers.

The ice and snow are starting to melt; and, the rising river waters slowly receding.

There was a bit of a crisis, when one of our Helpers decided he couldn’t leave his driveway to pick up the groceries and prescriptions; until, his bill was covered;

So, we were left scrambling for a few hours; while the order sat around at the store; and, some went back on the shelf.

It's a little odd, thinking of prescriptions and supplies being held hostage.

It has happened before; but, it’s no fun being reminded your life isn't really worth the bother.

People seem to think we have infinite resources; because my brother went to Harvard, on scholarship spending everything from our education fund; before his head injury; so, he’ll never finish now;
And, my Dad went to around to expensive resorts and restaurants, entertaining girlfriends, spending what he’d promised he was investing from my inheritance, to cover the court ordered support for my medical expenses. [His neighbours said they told them he didn’t have any family.]

Oh well, it doesn’t matter now. To paraphrase Poor Richard, unless you’re healthy, wealthy, and white, there isn’t a lot of point in waking up, at all.

Just to be clear, I don’t object to people being payed for their services.
There are lots of doctors offices where you can’t even sit in the lobby, if you don’t give the receptionist a credit card or cash at the front desk;
But, being on the tarmac, and the Air Ambulance decides there’s an extra fuel fee;
Or, the movers being at the end of the driveway, and deciding there’s an extra unloading fee;
Having gear at customs, and the contractor who went to pick up tacks on brokerage and transport fees;
Or, you’re not leaving the runway; or, it’s not getting off the truck; or, it’s being sent back; or, your perishables are put back on the shelf.
That’s just extortion.
