It's G-Dragon! Yay! Last week I searched his name here on DA and was very disappointed to see very little fanart of him so here is my contribution.
For those of you who don't know, GD, or Jiyong Kwon, is probably one of the most talented people in the Korean music industry. He is an amazing dancer, rapper, singer, composer, and writer. Not to mention the leader of one of Korea's top male groups, Big Bang.
I decided to change up my style and use colored pencils without letting any of the whiteness of the paper show through. It actually turned out a lot more vivid this way. ^.^
His shirt is very inaccurate but ,quite frankly, I got lazy at that part. XD

Just knowing you look at my artwork is more than enough of a compliment. Don't ever feel you have to comment on everything. However, I do appreciate the time you take to comment anyway. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I changed methods and decided to push very hard with the pencils which kinda makes it look like watercolor. ^.^

I love drawing kpop/jrock artists! I really have to do another GD one because he has so many cool photo shoots. You should try to do some other portraits! I know what you mean though...scanners are so stubborn when it comes to artwork. T.T

i've done one of TOP and one of Taeyang, both just grey lead sketches... and they kind of fail proportion wise.
now, i want to do one of GD from his new shoot with TOP. him with his awesome furry hats and the unrealistic
lighting from the shoot would make for an awesome picture... if i pull it off with some (lots of) patience. ^^
(my scanner turns my work orange O.O i have no idea why)

It takes a long time to get proportions correct when doing portraits. It still takes me a while to get proportions. I draw it out many, many times. XD
GD looks so awesome now with TOP and his debut! The hair is so cool. TOP's white/silver hair is just genius.
Take it one step at a time! What you can do to help is turn it upside-down when you finish the initial sketch and then turn the reference too. It helps you find mistakes way easier when you don't see it as a face. Good luck!

GD changed his hair again, and i must say, it looks so much better than the afro. he is completely adorable right now. don't if you've watched their newest mv, or if you watch mvs at all, but in my opinion, it's pure genius~

That's really bizarre. I've never heard of it tinting a color.
It really does help! That's what I did for my portrait. You're amazed at the mistakes you catch when you turn it a different way. ^.^ We always do that in art class.
I like it much better than the afro too! I mean, he never looks bad, but I like it better this way. I have watched the MV's! They are just whipping them out like it's nothing. XD
They are pure genius! I hope they get to do more overseas work now.

It may be a little different genre for someone who hasn't heard it before I assure you, he is very talented and worked very hard to get where he is. I recommend "Lies", "Haru Haru", or more recently, "beautiful hangover" if you want to see him just solo, take a look at "Heartbreaker"

Thanks for the faves! I must say though, I don't follow Korean music, but the piece is interesting, has a nice pose, and obviously you were very thorough in making it! Unbelievable that it's just colored pencil, but the colors came out so visibly! nice work with the different colors in the shadows

He is a famous singer/rapper in Asia (From South Korea) He has done some solo work and is the leader of a 5 member male group, Big Bang ^.^ I highly recommend giving them a look

big bang music - their album + song. (this song is awesome
maybe I will give him a chance, although I never really like to listen to rap songs |D

I am a fan of jrock too, trust me! They are two very different genres but there is a passion for music from both groups. I would highly recommend Big Bang. They are more hip hop than just rap. Actually, GD and Top are the only two that rap, the other three are vocalists.
They are so very talented because most of their music is composed and written by G-dragon himself. I highly recommend taking a look. (and it would give purpose to this drawing if someone else finds out about their music XD)

Well I can understand that because it did take me a while to warm up to them. It is such a difference coming from the other genres and jrock I listen to.
It is actually finished. The reference photo I used had weird lighting where I couldn't see where the hair ended at all...but I ended up kinda liking it

some songs are ok, but they get boring so fast...
but that was always my problem, before I knew j-rock
and - of course- I don't like EVERY j-rock band and song, I really choose my bands

I have listened to some Chinese before too. It has a really unique sound but they don't have as many artists as Korea or Japan.
Oh, I can relate. I am very picky with my jrock artists too...they have to go through a certain screening process. I will always be a dedicated Gazette fan but I don't follow others as closely.
