Warmth In The ChillA cold November has descended upon the world, the time of Thanksgiving advances rapidly, and it seems scarcely possible that Advent, the season of joyous expectation comes upon the heels of so many unmet hopes. I love this for so many reasons.... the color, the texture, the drawing... thank you for posting this! Can I ask if you do an ink drawing underneath or do you ink on top of the watercolor? I don't know much about the process but want to investigate it.... possibly with gouache. It is just lovely.

Aww, thank you for such a lovely comment! I'm glad you like my work.
I use waterproof india ink and the lines are inked first before the watercolor. It only works with waterproof ink, so be cautious if your ink isn't. I also dilute the ink with water so it's not straight black. It becomes more like a graphite pencil, grey color if you mix it with water. I haven't used gouache in years so it would be best to ask someone who specializes in that, but you could still ink a gouache painting like this first I'd imagine. I hope that helps!

It has such an interesting texture. I love how the colors stand out on it. Howl long did this one take you and what is the challenge on using this board. It might be called something different where I live XD.

Thank you darling! This one took about 4-5 days. I wasn't working on it very long. The board is a clay surface so the water is absorbed faster than on paper and dries quicker. I think that was the biggest challenge. It doesn't "spiderweb" as easily as paper. As in to create the iconic and typical watercolor textures. But I did enjoy it. It should still be called Aquabord because I don't think the brand name would change, but there are a few brands out there. Thank for your comments and feedback! AhΒ clay surface now that is very different indeed. It came out beautifully regardless and I love it. I believe the tree with all it's hues is my favorite of piece It captures my attention so vividly from the initial design to the colors. If you go with Aquaboard in another project I definitely look forward to seeing it^^.

I especially enjoy the overall softness. The composition really plays a great role in it, leading the eye to casually drift from the fox, to all the lovely eviron,ental elements and back to the foxy XD
