My part of a trade with the lovely Vxnishing <3Go look at their part, they did a super amazing Animation of my sweetest Violet ; 0 ;
They've done so much lovely art of my characters, I don't know how if I can ever make that up to them <3

Callllllllll, this is absolutely gorgeous! When I first saw this it really took my breath away. The background that you chose for this is just stunning from the composition, to the colors, to the perspective!! It's so cute and almost storybook-ey, which I really, really love. All the little details and foliage that you put in the background is also lovely -- especially all of those poppies! It looks like it took a lot of work, but you pulled it off beautifully!
Also the pose of the little Esk is so dynamic and cute -- I love how their nature features are blowing behind them. ;____;

As someone with art knowledge though, would you say that the red poppies take away too
much from the character? A friend told that he thinks that the flowers might be too saturated
or intense and draw the eyes away too much from the character, whats your thoughts on this?
I'd love to also get constructive feedback from you so I can create a better composition in the next one c:

Aaah, it's super flattering that you would ask that! ;v;
This is a little bit tricky for me, to be honest -- saturation is one of my absolute favorite things in most pictures, so I'm a tad bit biased towards one way, hahah! I would say that the poppies themselves aren't too saturated in my opinion, but maybe something like an overlay towards the back of the poppies (somewhere beneath the Esko's stomach/elbows area) to help push the poppies back a tad may have been helpful? Or perhaps used a very light blur in Photoshop, similar to how you did on the trees, but I'm talking suuuuper light. I think the ones in the far front are fine (towards the left) because they help make you feel like you're seeing a worm's eye view. You could have also done a couple of tufts of grass/flower petals flying up beneath the Esk, to show that they're jumping/running, perhaps?
I think that over all you did a very good job of pushing the character into focus, personally -- but maybe using some harsher highlights/perhaps an overlay to help pop the character would have been good, too? :> The bounce lighting is gorgeous on their stomach, and maybe putting another line similar to that where the light would hit the harshest would be nice, too.Β
I think the way you put them more on the plane of the sky rather than the poppies definitely helped make them stand out, but I know it can be super difficult when you want to put in little details like the flowers with a small Esk! Over all I think you did an amazing job, and these are just purely nitpicks on my part!

Especially the part about the harsher highlights and bounce lights on the character and the light blur, that's super important feedback <3
