I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day but I thought this would be a good occasion to show you my latest anniversary cake.design: when I asked my boyfriend what kind of cake he would like, he joked 'I think it's time for something heart-shaped' and my reaction was a glare and word 'DIE!!!...' whispered in my most dramatic voice... but the idea got stuck in my head and I started wondering what kind of heart-shaped thing would be acceptable also for me. and than it hit me- an old-school tattoo, the most cheesy one with all the good stuff like wings, birds, flowers, huge 'mom' banner...Ā I just had to change 'mom' for something more fitting the occasion and since we met working on a cruise ship the choice between crown and anchor was a really easy one
cake: since I don't have anything heart-shaped in my kitchen I baked regular round white velvet pound cake and carved it. it's layered with peanut butter frosting and covered with fondant. anchor, planks and flowers are fondant, leaves and banner are fondant with royal icing, wings and a swallow are royal icing run-outs

I think anniversary cakes are kind of difficult because they have to please two people. so thinking up a design can be a real challenge. but we were both happy with how it turned out and that's what matters with the cake

True dat.Ā But I think that compromising is important too if you cant come to an agreement about it.Ā Like: "OK, you can put a pink My Little Pony on the cake but it has to be carrying a bazooka!"XDĀ Aww, don't worry about next year, you'll be fine.^^

in my case pink My Little Pony would have to be a victim of some serial killer, I'm thinking chaisaw and head on the ground and torso as a bloody fountain... yeah, that could work!

Very creative instead of sticking to the usual heart shape cake

I am not exactly a fan of hearts so getting creative was the only choice since I was making it for myself too
