Description This is a concept I had for a wedding cake that I decided to alter and have a test run of for my 23rd birthday. Cause really, any milestone in my family is a chance to practise and improve on skills.

So for weddings a lot of people are tending towards cupcakes either to serve or have as take home gifts. But everyone likes a tall, tiered, extravagant cake. This tier of boxes serves as the happy medium. It's designed to look like a cake, but only the top tier is a cake (because you need something to cut into, right?). I went for the brown and green theme to make it less weddingish (original concept is white) and more birthdayish. The brown and green matched the chocolate/peppermint flavours.

I hand made each cupcake box - the base of each box is designed to be spill proof (seriously, you shake those things around and even tip them upside down and that cupcake was going nowhere). It actually worked really well for a birthday party, too, as everyone arrived and left at different times so each person was able to take home a cupcake.

The cupcakes that went inside can be seen in my gallery here: [link]

i like the concept. i think it's fantastic and even i also lean towards to cupcakes a lot.
i actually thought the boxes was part of the cake. that's a neat idea, and especially guests sometimes don't get to eat the cake. <3

good job I would never have thought of it.

Thanks so much!

I just spend far too long thinking about cake haha. Like some time last November I was lying in bed thinking about what to do for the Christmas cake, sprung out of bed at like 2am in the morning with an idea and started scribbling a blueprint. Scared the living daylights out of my boyfriend.
