Description This is a really shaky example of what the sunsets occasionally look like at the beach where Thomas lives.
There's this palm tree he likes to sit next too to watch the sunset.

Yeah, the sand and water look like shit, but not much I can do now. I suck way too bad at shading water.
or drawing it for that matter.
Most of this was a new experience for me, so a lot of it doesn't look super good right now.
Give me more time to practice and I'll hopefully get better with it in the future.

Aside from all the negatives, I kind of like how this turned out. Obviously, I'm not the most active person when it comes to uploading, so I guess this is my best upload so far.
Kinda meh, but I haven't made anything better so far so I guess this'll do.

So the first thing I looked at when i saw this was the background. Right away i could tell it was a beach. I'll start off by saying that the water- looks amazing. Don't sell yourself short, background are really hard to do and you executed this very well. I don't know if you looked at references for this or not but the transition colors for the sunset and the really pretty effect of the water and the slight waves are so pretty. I really had to take a solid 3 or so minutes just to enlarge the image and see it more clearly so I could take in all the details.

And the grass is beautiful too. I myself am not a fan of things looking 'too' realistic. You know what I mean? There is something about the way you did the grass that has this really nice cartoon charm to it. And I am a huge fan of cartoons they just make me re-live all my childhood imagination.

The only thing that I would say could have been done a little differently is where the water meets the sand I would have added like a white foamy look on the waters edge and maybe give the sand a little more depth.

In addition to that i will suggest that you maybe start using experimenting with different colored line art if you haven't already. Sometimes black can make the image look a little flat, I normally use a dark brown or like a dark red. Sometimes I use blue too it depends on the visual you want for the image i guess! I only say this since your background is lineless ;o; granted Thomas does stand out really well against it.

But you added some wonderful textures to the grass, sky, and water and it really brings out that earthy feeling that you want when you are sitting in the grass and the way its both hard and soft at the same time.

As for the anatomy of Thomas, it looks great. I personally really like his knees because I think they are really cute, and I also love your sonic style a lot. Its super smooshy and the eyes are really pretty.

The overlays and effects you used really give it a warm tone and I feel like I could imagine myself there and what the temperature would be.

This is really pretty Morgan, I like it a lot ;___;

I really love the color scheme and the idea of the character resting under the tree to a sunset. Beautifully made. Thats all I got sorry : )Β

This is 1000% fair. Thanks so much for the critique, Mack! ;v;

I definitely agree with what you said about the water hitting the sand. I didn't look up any references for that and I don't have enough knowledge on that specific thing so I guess it was bound to happen. But I'll note what you said, cause it was pretty helpful!

But one thing I wanna acknowledge was the notes you made about the colored lineart. I actually did add some brown to the lines, but it's just barely visible. I'll note that I have to make them more obvious next time. I was worried that he would look a little flat against the background, like what you mentioned.

But one last thing, I feel like you were a little too nice with this critique. I can definitely spot a few more things in the picture that you never mentioned that need work. But I'm super happy you left a critique at all! I'll remember some of the things you said for next time. Again, thanks so much! <'3
