Description An enchanted forest, as you can tell. The usual play between darkness and light. I can't get enough of it! Hehe.

Argh, so many leaves, so much work! This was very fun to do though, especially the clouds. I want a red kitty hood too!

I won't tell you much about the characters in the picture. They live in the forest and they're blind in the dark, where everything changes face... you can figure the rest out yourselves. The story is in the mind of the beholder, among others. (;

ALSO! (yes, in caps) I uploaded the base colours in my scraps, because it's fun to see some of the process that goes into a picture. Click here: [link] to see it. Fun for comparison.

Media: Pencil sketch, Photoshop 8.0, Wacom Tablet.
Time taken: About 8 hours, 4 of which went into the base colouring (I blame all the leaves in this picture!) and only 4 hours for shading.

Full-view is your (and my) friend! (unless I suck and forgot some details)

Pictures are always (c) to me.

I like the skin tone and the sky especially. The little creature on the left is cute too. <3;;

Glad you do! I had lots of fun with the sky... and ironically that's the part that took the smallest amount of time.

But he was trying to be scary!

ummm, a long way from the base ti the ended piece
and lots lots of work, as we can see, by comparison (of the initial and the finished arts)
gnomes? little riding hood gnomes
or the snow white gnomes - who left after she married the prince lol.
who are being hunted by the "evil bad" bunnie spirits

loool
awesome art, btw

The weird part is the base colour is almost half the work. I spent 4 hours on the base and 4 hours on shading. ^^ You'd think the base colouring would be fast.

Thanks for the comment sweetie!

I like this one very much. The shadows, Characters, the whole secret story that is hidden in that piece of art is really imaginable and interesting. And i love that white devil-being in down left. It would be fun to lost that kind of forest.

oO I'd be too scared to live there, unless I was in sunlight constantly... or they'll get you!

Hehe... it reminds me of the forest around the cabin my grandparents had when I was a kid. Didn't see those creatures, but I went looking for Fraggles there once

Hehe, I loved being a kid. I always used to walk around the forest surrounding my parents' summer house looking for weird creatures as well. x) Now that I've "grown up", it's harder to spend your time that carelessly. I wish I could though.

Yes, I've seen it. Amazing movie! So inspiring.

I actually saw it just after making this picture. ^^ The movie has only been out for a couple of weeks here in Denmark.

oh, and.. i now see how hard it would be to paint all of those leaves

Cado In reply to haighy [2007-03-18 21:17:36 +0000 UTC]

Hard but fun! The key is to make most of the details in the base colour. Makes the shading tons easier. ^^

I saw it on the premiere! Denmark is usually slow with these things... It inspired me tons! Especially the faun... so amazingly made!

Nice one! Wacom Tablets make everything easier and less stressful on the wrists as well. ^^

Hehe, I would so make one if I could find some proper fabric! But well... in Denmark that's almost impossible. Meh.

hey... your stuff is awesome... i was wondering if you wanted to work together on a graphic novel or somethin... i write a lot better than i draw... and i was toying with the idea of writing a fantasy/comedy... let me know, or email me, and I can fill you in... if you're interested, that is... (oh, and the realm I'm in in WoW is Sisters of Elune...) ((just look for Gnorm the Gnome))...
