Description What do you all think of the watermark/time stamp I'd like to start employing? The mood I'm in right now says it'll be different each month (though of the same style). It'll be on the next piece I upload as well.

Very nice Tom! I love the earthy colours and the Aztec feel of it. Great job!

Also, I've tried using this script (eTech) but I can never get something so similar to yours. May I ask what variations you use? Would be a great help

Cheers!

I use the same variations as in the eTech script. The key is to reset the rotation of your edisc transform (meanign that it's either rotated 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees). Playing with weights is also important.

Very subtle, Tom, and completely inconspicuous.

I almost got out the magnifying glass! Mind you, I was looking in the bottom RIGHT corner, which is where I expect to find signatures.

CabinTom In reply to LadyLyonnesse [2008-01-09 22:29:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I had to put it in a place where it wouldn't be obvious, yet still could be seen. So in this case it was the left corner, next time it may be the middle... who knows!

i agree with roz..
& i think artists need to protect their art with another mean.. i can't figure it out yet.. but i'm thinking about it a lot though

btw. v. beautiful fractal tom.. i think i'll never be able to do any thing like it..great work

Tom there is loads of free software that will remove watermarks. For me they simply deface any art. If someone wants an image they will take it. This is a chance we all take when we show our images online. Then there is the right click and save, not necessary as there are also tons of free screen image capture programs as well.

My method is not to make such high renders and frame and sign my work. That does make it harder, there are some programs that will increase the size of an image without losing any of the quality, but we artists would know because no matter how hard we try to get perfect renderings they are never exactly what we would like, I have been trying to render 2 very fine spirals for the past few days, each time I end up deleting. My computer is just not up to the job... I am trying to get enough cash together to get a better machine. I can't even upgrade the graphic card, I have 128 Nvdia 5200, PCI now they are all PCI Express... The slots are not compatible... So even though this is just 3 years old, I have to start saving. Very hard when you live on benefits...

I As you can tell I absolutely hate watermarks... Sorry. Roz

If you want help rendering those flames, I have 2GB of RAM and a 512MB graphics card - I'll do 'em for ya!

You are very kind, if you send me an email I will send one of them to you, I have managed something halfway decent with one of them, the other is not having it at all. I built this computer from a bare bones system I have 1553 RAM and 128 Graphics, it just isn't enough. I was looking at some machines on ebay if I wait a little longer I hope to be able to get one from the same place I got this 3 years ago. It has been very reliable. It's just my fractals have got more complicated. The processor is a Semperon 2200, supposed to be better than a Pentium 4 in every way... Now I am going to go for a dual core with all the graphics I need.
I will get the file to you as soon as I can, however please do not worry if you don't get too far with it. It is loads of dots and swirls, really fine detail with strong colours. I just keep getting a big fat mish mash.

My sincere thanks again

Roz X

No! Go for quadcore!!! Seriously, I've been testing dual vs. quad! The 75 dollar price difference makes up comletely!!! The quad performance blows the dual out of the water!! Also, make sure you get at least 512MB Video Card, so your processors won't have to wait for your video card.

File sent. Off to get some sleep now. I had a busy day. Typed up 10 pages for a friend, been shopping and bought loads of cheap clothes in the sales... Not spent much, won't affect my computer fund...

CabinTom In reply to Rozrr [2008-01-09 18:14:07 +0000 UTC]

The purpose isn't so much for the watermark... I'd just like to be able to sign my artwork in some fashion or another. So I was just wondering if the current small down in the corner, mostly transparent, identifier wasn't too distracting from the piece.

In all actuality I've been amazingly lucky so far and have only heard of one website with my work on it (and it was only one peace as I recall). So I'm not to worried about being ripped off. If the major consensus is that it's not at all a good addition then I won't be including it. Thanks for the input Roz!! (Hopefully you'll get that computer soon)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CabinTom In reply to RCPage [2008-01-09 18:24:24 +0000 UTC]

It's at the bottom left corner (I'm sure once you see it, it'll be more noticeable... and it's not as much a watermark I guess as it is a sort of digital signature).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RCPage In reply to CabinTom [2008-01-09 19:03:10 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I see it now, nice and subtle. I agree with Roz, the images I post here are one step less refined than those that I make prints of to frame and show. That way, if I'm ripped it is no big thing and I can always tell. regards...
