Description I LOVE JUDY FROM ANIMAL CROSSING SO MUCH.

I've been playing around with portraits more recently. Would love some feedback on how I can improve.
I was mostly going for a blurry bg and detailed face sort of approach. Not really sure if I pulled it off well enough though hmm.
((also is the background too dark?))

Hi byeol! I'm from ThatArtGrind here to help you out with some feedback

Very nicely done with the portrait! I love the magical feeling you gave it. Love the fluffy clouds . The background looks good but personally I would darken it up a bit. That way she would pop out more with the values being darker. May I do an over paint to more easily show you some areas you can improve on?

No problem my pleasure.

Below is the overpaint I did. I assumed you wanted to make her look cuter so I decided to round up her chin, that way she would have a much cuter look to her. Her eyes seemed to be a bit wonkey so I moved her left eye more to the right so that she looks in the same direction. Make sure both eyes look in the same direction, in this case she's looking at the viewer.

Another change I made was at her hair bun I moved it around a little. At the nose I felt like the shading was a bit too harsh. I'm not very good at drawing noses myself, but dimmed down a little the values and focused on trying to bring in a bit of the nose anatomy. I also reshaped the lips a little bit to give her a more poutty cute look and go around with the face anatomy. And I darkened the background a bit to make her pop from the background.

Overall I would say be warry of the planes of the face and the anatomy. I'm not sure what program you use to paint in but I recommend to flip the canvas that way you can see mistakes more easily. I also recommend if you're using Photoshop to use the Liquefy tool or a similar tool in your program. It definately helps in overall quick adjustments

Overall you did an awesome job with her love the colour palatte you used and the atmosphere!
Hope this helps

My pleasure! happy it was useful for you.

Below I found a few videos that might be useful to you about liquify and flipping the canvas

For anatomy stuff I recommend looking up Proko or Sycra on youtube they got some good tutorials on how to learn anatomy. I know anatomy gets a tricky when you do stylisation xD
