Description Here's a pair of design drawings for the personal rocket ships we still haven't ever gotten*, hot off the drawing boards of the Retropolis Rocket Works.

They're official, right down to the " Approved for Construction" stamps, here signed by the renowned engineers Hugh Ferriss and Norman Saunders. These babies ought to rolling down the assembly line any day now.

*Honestly, I just want one for me; I've seen the way *you* drive.

I want one! Hmmm maybe I should learn how to pilot one of them first? Who gives lessons in Retropolis?

BWS, Yours work is truly amazing. With your shapes, color usage, and humor you are able to capture the imagined futuristic utopias of the 1930's...

I love the ships!

whats the mach on those babies? and can i get the seats in different colors?
oh can i install a sound system... gotta rock the solar system with tunes...

love your imagery... you make such beautiful colors and details.

I think they do zero to sixty in "Oh wait, we're there already".
I ought to do the brochure, shouldn't I?
Naturally the sound sysyem won't work in a vacuum environment, but I agree it should be standard equipment.
And thanks very much for the compliment from the creator or the phrase " bedheaded hair". I related to that one, although I think what I have is mad scientist hair.
I've been trying to keep up with who's who and what's on their pages, and I'd already been by yours. I could have sworn "I Keep My Dreams in a Jar" was a painting. Very nice.

well, then when im driving your vehicle, i better not blink.
yes, a brochure of great length and detail would be lovely.... hehe

im thinking the sound system would be wired into the helmut... but yano there is just no room for the cd changer in a standard spacer helmut....

mad scientist hair comes from bedheading.... its just that they stand up when they sleep... but its ok... you can say you have the mad scientist hair... ima stick with bedheaded hair... teehee

thank you for being so kind... im glad you liked my jars image.

Aww, c'mon! I can't help it if someone put that rock in the middle of the road! I had to swerve to miss it, and speed up to avoid running into another one.

Really great designs. Rather reminiscent of some of the old Flash Gordon rocketships.

I've got a thing for retro...nice work!

you have a very interesting useage of color. and your style reminds me of an artist that used to create logos and things for the Phrozen Crew called daVinci

Thank you! I was just looking at your drawiings the other night - very nice! I really envy that, because I've let my traditional skills sort of atrophy and that bothers me a bit. Long story, actually. But anyhow, you have a very nice hand for your paper work!

thespinner In reply to BWS [2004-02-26 06:53:52 +0000 UTC]

well you must have something bub with a DD under yer belt. and I know what you mean. for many years I wouldn't touch a pencil, completely blocked. the nice thing is though, you keep learning, visually, even when you aren't drawing. after the initial crustiness I noticed my skills were still better than when I stopped drawing.

and thanks. =]

"nifty" is about right . In fact, my actual license plate reads "BZ NEES", which is also about right. Thanks again! I'm almost starting to remember who some of the names belong to. This has all been sort of unexpected.

BWS In reply to jote-75 [2004-02-26 03:07:59 +0000 UTC]

Split the difference, we'll make it 1930's and I think that'l put us on teh same page . Thanks!

Those "Approved for Construction" stamps are an awful lot like the ones we always saw on drawings back when I was a draftsman. It was a sort of a flashback to those days, when I used to draw drafting jokes - the sort of thing that would be awfully funny only if you, well, did that. And which made no sense at all to anyone else.

BWS In reply to abh0rsen [2004-02-26 03:23:07 +0000 UTC]

I'd rather fly the top one too. The bottom one's more a ladies' rocket; it was inspired by a rocket that Ardala flies in the Buck Rogers comics from the 30's. The top one's more a flat out roadster, complete with running boards, and I'd sure like to give it a test drive myself.
