This is really helpful, just to see the different stages you go through, plus very nice!

I was comically pretending to draw attention away from my error with a strange, fictional distraction.

I really love the breakdown of how you draw Will you continue to do stages like this as you finish him?

I will continue doing the stages, and then post the final result by itself. I have a habit of working on things this way -- I find it helps, 'cause my attention span is as long as my pen, and seeing my work in stages reminds me that I'm making progress even though it's happening at a very slow rate. This so far is 5+ hours. Thank you for the comment.

That's a good way to analyze your progress Your stroke work is beautiful, so I can see your patience pays off I'm the opposite of you in that manner as when I start I get OCD and can't stop until I'm finished... even if I'm sitting drawing for 8 or more hours 0o I've had a few 13 hour clips where I barely ate or drank just to finish a piece Of course now I have a newborn, so I have to learn moderation... now I just finish all the pencil... next ink... and so forth, but the urge is still powerful to keep going!

Congratulations on the baby! Yeah, I can understand that. It's hard to stop. I've definitely lost many hours and many meals to my work. My trouble is that I am easily discouraged and once I reach a certain point, I feel as though I'm not making any progress and become unsure of how to continue.

Thanks! He's a joy!

I've had those times as well where I'm staring at the page trying to get a fix on what needs to be done or feeling like my hand is working against me.

Nice update, what shades did you add?

That happens to me constantly, which is why I often don't finish my projects. This one is definitely getting done, though, since it's a gift for my sister.

Thanks! I continued with the blues, pinks, and purples, worked a lot more red into the darker areas, and started adding some green hues to the highlights. When his hair is done, it will have much fewer blue tones to it apart from highlighted areas. I made this for some curious people on Tumblr: [link]

Oh the animation is neat! Wish it paused a little slower so you could really observe the changes in your picture. I need to learn to color on the computer, it's really awesome the effects you can do! And woot to finishing Eric! XD I'm definitely glad to hear it!

And you most definitely can draw like anybody you admire with practice and preservation. Thanks so much for your words -- it's very sweet of you to say.
