Crimson Typhoon was badass. They should have given it more screen time. I don't think Del Toro was trying to say anything by having it be destroyed so quickly. It was probably a budgeting issue. I would have liked to see Cherno Alpha last longer too.

I'm in America, and yeah...a lot of the "Pacific Rim" fans over here would have also preferred more screen time with both Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha. They're both amazing looking giant robots, and deserved to last longer, and gotten more epic send offs.
On the bright side, it was your country that came out in droves and helped make "Pacific Rim" an successful film, despite the lukewarm response it got here in America. And shockingly the poor performance in Japan, which hasn't been keen on Kaiju films since the mid-1990's.

I read someone from the Chinese military complained about the movie as it is Anti-Chinese just for the fact CT doesn't have as much screen time fighting as it should. He misses the point entirely. This movie has the entire world saving itself instead of one country. Unlike most films where it's one country doing the job (which is very self centered of the writer or director of such a film)

That guy complaining is missing the point of the film.
Given how Crimson was destroyed, it can come back in the sequel. Only the Conn Pod/ head was ripped out. The body is still intact and can be reused for a new Jaeger. Cherno alpha of Russia, maybe depending on how bad Otachi';s acid damaged the reactor.

I read the article and I tend to say that theres a point taken.
Blame it to my crazy way of thinking but (in my surrounding area a.k.a. Germany) it is true that people only think what thei had been told by media, not thinking twice about the hiden message.
But enough of politics. I realy like this picture and hope to see the Tiananmen Square one day.
