So somewhere near the top of my list of ‘movies that get a lot of undeserved shit and that I will forever defend’ is Last Action Hero. It’s a clever blend of satire, schlock, and some genuine moments of action and emotion, set in a sort of pop cultural debris wasteland. It’s bizarre, it’s entertaining, and I think it’s a lot smarter than people give it credit. It also has Charles Dance and Charles Dance makes everything amazing (even if his robot sex scene in Space Truckers did really confuse me as a kid.)Related content
