Description For us Hetalia fans who know the series is not accurate to history and are not among the mass of insane yaoi fangirls, but history lovers who like an irrelevant show :3

I personally did not get into history because of Hetalia, I've had a growing interest for many years now. And I've only recently gotten really into it because of random researching, TCM, and great history classes.

Hetalia is just a fun anime on the side, with little truth to it, but regardless, it's cute and fine as a webcomic (I honestly don't like the anime XD; ). I mostly use it as an inspiration to my art, not my history love.

I also think there's nothing wrong with liking history after Hetalia, because you watched/read it and were inspired to look into actual facts. Everyone has to start somewhere, you know?

I find that Hetalia helps me to understand mapping videos. It would also help a visual learner understand history and geography, as they could put a face to a name for example, Ivan and Russia. But, I wouldn't recommend it as a replacement for your history or geography book, or a replacement for just research in general.

Using. I understand and relate as well, I've always had an interest and the show only makes it more interesting.

I've been into history since before hetalia was ever made.

I don't really understand how people like history because of it, there isn't much history in there. such as now every time I try and talk about Prussian history everybodys like "OOO YAH AWESOME LIEK PRUSSIA" ....not saying I dislike the character it's just...what..?

but I do love history and the show!

....Oh and since everybodys talking about how they found hetalia, I found it googling Italian pasta recipes, so yes I was obsessed over italy and pasta before hetalia too. x'DΒ

Hetalia doesn't really teach much history, it just makes me more interested in history. Therefore it makes my grades go up. Thanks, Hetalia.

Finally people who understand.

And the thing is, I do understand the mindset of people who say Hetalia helped to get into history, and if that truly helped their grades go up then great, I'm happy for them.

However, while I understand that mindset, it's most definitely not mine.

I loved history way before I even knew what Hetalia was. I always found it interesting to learn about how thing were in the past (preferably Greek history, the mythology is so interesting), and how they are now, within my own country, and in other countries.

And having said that, putting my mind to rest, I give you a favorite, and my praise, for this wonderful stamp.

I guess it'sΒ a bit of a coincidence of how I started to really like history when I first started watching Hetalia... It's because my teachers in elementary school didn't make history interesting.... When I was in 7th grade, my teacher had us do a bunch of fun projects and debate in class, and I started to really enjoy is. (I mostly have taken a liking to Chinese and Nordic history.)

Not at all~ Β I think I would rather see someone not like history but love Hetalia, rather than someone who loves history BECAUSE of Hetalia >n>

I liked History before Hetalia. I don't get how people can get Hetalia and history confused together. They are two totally seperate things. HETALIA IS NOT ABOUT HISTORY

I think that’s probably because the characters in the series are COUNTRIES’ PERSONIFIED!
They somehow represent the countries in real life, and the countries’ names are being used as theirs in both webcomic and anime.
I’ve even seen that for some fans the personified characters equal the REAL countries! Maybe that’s the one who gets history
too seriously.
So I think they are not COMPLETELY separate in this level.

But don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I agree with this kind of fans.
I just try to explain the possible reason for this confusion.
I also don’t like the fans who think the fictional characters and the real countries are equal the same things.

This is so true. I have always loved History, then I found Hetalia and I found it absolutely hilarious. They are two different things and I know Hetalia is historically inaccurate.

Exactly! I always loved history because it was like an epic novel, except the characters and events were real, which made me feel closer to the action and helped me connect with the world I live in.

It may be one of my current obsessions but I wanted to become a historian long before I discovered Hetalia.

While I do enjoy quite a few of the slash pairings from Hetalia, I so agree with this stamp. I always enjoyed history before I even knew APH existed and I still love it for what it is. The history of our world. Hetalia is a fandom. History is not.

I liked History from the time I was in first grade.
Hetalia just makes me laugh. It's nice to see that others are with me on this.

I liked History before Hetalia (stalking the History channel, texts, and documentaries) but what is funny about it was that I made similar connections such as using America as 'the one to but in in international affairs' or 'Germany had gone crazy in WW2' or 'Ploand got beaten up pretty bad by Russia'. Still I didn't think of it as person but I did give it a basic almost personality due to current events. It's hard to explain unless you generalize the country as a whole.

kittyXartist [2011-01-06 05:37:53 +0000 UTC]

Gosh, I love this to bits! It's exactly what I think.
I like to see the Hetalia characters as...well, characters. Not shameful or delightful representations of the countries all the time that have to be taken to the norm.
I do love to read history every here and now in vacations (I barely have time to do so when in school!), the Space Race is one of my favourite periods ever since I have memory, even if I don't know as much about it as I could. But I can read about it thinking on the people and the facts, and not in Chibi America's or Russia's (I admit that fanart from that period would be rather interesting, however!). Same, I like the characters because of themselves, and not because I see them like I'd see the whole country. I've never quite believed the stereotypes, but having rather sane friends from everywhere in the planet makes me think it's useless to judge and overhype!

Sorry the Wall of Text In short thanks a lot for this! wish I'd have a sub only for this one.

No need to apologize, I absolutely agree with you on everything, that's the idea of this stamp :3

I also agree on seeing some interesting parts of history (for example, I LOVE the 1920s) in Hetalia, but the characters I wouldn't see as countries really, but more just. . . Characters in a great period of time ^^ Of course, it would be fun if it were accurate and America was annoying the world with his Depression issues in the 30's XD

Well anyways, glad you like it

I think that as a species (not all) human women are drawn to sexual things like Yaoi, because we as a species are sexual in nature.
