If it makes you feel any better, the most recent picture I've done took me about 63 layers O^O That includes line art layers, coloring, and shading/lighting! OoO
And a current drawing I'm still working on, includes 15 layers of nothing but line art.
You know what I use to make filling in base colors easier? I use the magic wand tool to fill in everything for the base colors, and then take my time on the shading and lighting. ^w^

I use the layer tool a lot (It's basically I must for me) OTL
I usually make 20 layers of lineart, when I'm finished I merge them all together hehe
Yeah I use to use that tool but I don't remember why I stopped.

Same here, I like having each bit of line art on one layer so that way if I mess up, I won't have to erase everything~
I've gotten used to the blue color of the select pen, for it's really only going to be there for a short amount of time. UwU
