Description So I was going for a ring like the ones I made in the past, but I didn't press the gears in enough so they didn't solder down. But I sort of like how this turned out too. I put the ring in Liver of Sulfur to oxidize it and sanded it off, leaving the indents to remain colored.

About 2 hours of work.

Note:
If anyone is interested in buying this, I am interested in selling. It's a size 8 (roughly). Send me a message if you are interested :]

so pretty much I took a regular sheet of silver, cut it to be a small rectangle the length I needed for a ring, arranged some watch gears on it and taped them down, then pressed it all in a strong press, indenting the silver. Then I popped all the gears out and cut around it to give it the contours, soldered it together in a ring, then put it in Liver of Sulfur to speed up the tarnishing/oxidizing process, then sanded off the surfaces that I could and left the tarnished parts in the indents :]

yeah I don't know how expensive something like that costs, but it's a hydrollic press that does like 30 tons of pressure, it's pretty nuts :]
I'll try to get into a habit of taking photos of my works in progress so I could explain some stuff better to interested folk :]

you won`t believe what i found today in the street... a roller (if that`s the right word for it in english...) i did not have a closer look at it because i did not have the time, but maybe it works?!?!

and if you say you would sell this ring- how much would it be? with shipping and so on... and is there a possibility to pay you without paypal? i really love this ring!

What sort of roller? What I used was something akin to this:

only the one I use is electric.

As for the ring, I'm thinking somewhere between 35 an 45 dollars for it, and even though Paypal is the easiest way to get money from people I can't meet in person, we can work out something else if you're interested :]

yeah, that`s kind of what i found. it just does not have a crank handle, i will have to figure something out with that...

that`s a fair price. i start working on 1 of april, so maybe then i will have some money left... and hopefully i fiind one of my rings till then that i can measure it to know if it fits. i work with metric system, and you? i don`t know anything about ringsizes...

and sorry that i took sooooo much time with writing back, it`s quite chaotic at the moment...

we've got metric on everything, but it's not the first thing people think to measure stuff in, since we've got silly inches and feet.
If you measure around your finger in centimeters or milimeters or whatever and I can work with that just as well :]
I'm sure they have a ring sizing standard for you guys too, but I'm not sure what it would be. Usually they've got these hoops full of various sized rings and you try them on until you get the one that fits and it's got a size written on it.

and again, no worries. Some people do have a life outside of the internet

yes, i know these hoop- thingies. but i don`t have any idea who would just measure my finger... keep your fingers crossed i get this job, then i`ll be rich (hm. kind of ) and get the ring!

totally sold this one to a friend over my spring break last week, but fear not! I am getting better with every new one I make and I would be more than happy to make another

Money is nice, I finally got my first paycheck in the mail after months of dealing with issues in paperwork.

I'm thinking I'm going to try some other techniques, see what other colors variations I can get :]
