Description This is Zharova, an off-and-on antagonist of Thunder Woman. Unlike the villains posted previously, she is in fact a heroine, and her conflicts with Thunder Woman have come about more as a result of misunderstanding, manipulation, or on orders from her government. She is not malicious or vindictive like the people that compose Thunder Woman's rogues gallery, though she does and has just as often been Samantha's comrade in arms as her enemy.

On the left is her typical human guise. On the right is her superpowered form as Zharova.

Regina Abramova was born from the union of her Tartar mother and Russian father, a military officer in the Red Army. Early on in her age, mysterious phenomena related to open flames and hot weather occurred around her, though few were keen enough to spot the coincidences. She volunteered for service in the Russian army, her natural beauty helping her to win the Miss Russian Army beauty pageant.

As she grew older, Regina became more aware of her innate supernatural connection to fire, but did not pay these powers too much heat until, while at a subway station in Moscow, she was caught in a firebombing by Chechen terrorists. When she survived with no harm, she thought she was merely lucky. But there was something more to her than she realized. The unit she belonged to was sent to Siberia for exercises, and during the trip became caught up in the invasion of Russia by the powerful sorcerer called Koschei.

Regina managed to escape his army of foul monsters, journeying deeper into mystic Russia, looking for escape. Running from pursuing soldiers of Koschei, she became trapped in his citadel on the mystic island of Buyan. Koschei captured her, intent on making Regina the first of a new harem. While imprisoned, she discovered another being entrapped with her: the legendary Firebird. It spoke to her, promising her power in exchange for freedom, and gave her the secret to defeating Koschei. Escaping, Regina discovered the egg that housed the sorcerer's soul, and then freed the Firebird, and fulfilling its promise, the Firebird imbued itself into Regina, transforming her into a being of living fire.

Regina defeated Koschei after destroying his egg, turning back the invasion of Russia single-handidly. Back home, she was celebrated as a hero, and shortly theraeafter, her service in the military was invoked. No longer just an army grunt, she was recruited into a new superhuman program, one that had been brewing since the Soviet collapse. The presence of a fresh face in Russia's superhuman community has reinivgorated its heroes, leading to a potential new golden age.

Calling herself Zharova, she has been a tireless and faithful servant of Russia, balancing her responsibilities to the state while remaining loyal to the people of the Rodina.

Zharova's first encounter with Thunder Woman was when she pursued a fleeing supervillain into Newport City's airspace. They were intercepted by Thunder Woman, who intervened on request from the mayor. However, Thunder Woman knew no Russian, and Zharova's grasp of English was still shakey. Misunderstanding each other's intentions, the two heroines clashed in a truly devastating battle over the city. Zharova proved to be one of Thunder Woman's toughest opponents, immune to her physical might or lightning, even as she inflicted Samantha with heat so hot as to harm even her godly body. However, in the end Thunder Woman won, weakening Regina by dunking her into the ocean, then containing her opponent in a tornado. However, NPCPD Metahuman Response Units alerted Thunder Woman to the threat of the supervillain. Reconciling with Zharova, the two heroines intercepted the villain, capturing him after a fierce battle. After turning him over to the Russians, Thunder Woman and Zharova promised to assist each other in the future, should they ever meet again.

Aside from being mind-controlled by Daebaman, and a later confrontation with Thunder Woman over the South Ossetia War, Zharova has not clashed with Thunder Woman since then. For the most part content to protect Russia from its own home-brewed threats, she has returned to assist Thunder Woman on a few occasions, including taking down an incursion by the Russian mafia into Newport City, a second invasion by Koschei, and against such supervillains as Atomic Czar, The White Giant, the Russian internal security agency SETI, and the seductive sorceress Baba-Yoma.

As Zharova, Regina can become a being of pure heat and energy, essentially a star collapsed into a humanoid form. She is a formidable pyrokinetic, able to generate and shape fire, plasma, and heat with great precision. She can generate blasts capable of harming even the likes of Thunder Woman, and anything that uses heat is fair game to be controlled. She can even bend lightning to her will, as Thunder Woman discovered during their first confrontation.

As a being of living fire, Zharova is immune to all forms of heat, and has no need for air or food. It also renders her invulnerable to most forms of physical harm and energy attacks, and even magic to a certain degree, as most attacks will just pass through her body. She can reform from any dispersal of her energetic form, though the greater the disruption, the more difficult it is to pull herself back together.

By compacting the density of her body's energy, Zharova can assume varying degrees of solidity. At her densest, she can become superhumanly strong and tough, enough to trade blows with Thunder Woman, though her prowess in this state is nowhere near Samantha's godly strength.

Using her powers, she can fly at hypersonic speeds, fast enough to cross even the vast expanse of Russia from its western to eastern borders in under an hour.

Zharova, however, is not completely immune to harm. Certain energy attacks can disrupt the cohesion of her body's energy, keeping the Russian heroine focused on trying to reform herself. A powerful enough attack can similarly disperse her, and there is a point where unless there is a source of energy close by, Zharova won't be able to pull herself back together. Extreme gusts of wind can also keep her at bay, as Thunder Woman discovered.

Water can also disrupt Zharova's body. While even a fire hose doesn't pose a threat to the likes of someone who can generate heat greater than the surface of the sun, large bodies of water like a lake or ocean can prove detrimental to Zharova's well being; while she can survive for as long as a few minutes under water, any extended amount of time spent submerged will threaten to burn out Zharova's energy.

Zharova has no real defenses against mental or psychic manipulation, as evidenced in encounters with Daebaman and Deathgrip, though her lack of human physiology may prove problematic to maintaining control.

Last of all, as Regina she is as vulnerable to harm as any other human, her default form lacking the mystical power of her Zharova form.
