...The icons are kinda driving me crazy, so time for some other pixel practice.
About a dozen really old Pokémon sketches are sitting around, and I decided to work on a Ho-Oh.
This is like the 3rd or 4th Ho-Oh I've sketched... but this chappie is the first to ever be finished.
Meh, I'm not too happy with it though. Really, really don't like that awkward choppy tail. *slaps self*
Oh well. Not gonna redraw it all now.

yeah I agree with pahein. the head looks weird being stationary. Maybe try looking at a bird flying reference? it might help with it and maybe some birds in the future you do.

I think the tail might look a little better if the head moved as well? In my experience, both the head and tail tend to dip during the downbeat-- to balance the body, and help the head stay at the same position relative to the world. Birds have some of the most amazing head stabilization processes... It's really interesting.
Either way, the shading looks fanTAStic. I really love the shading for the red and white bits, in particular.
