A concept drawing that I hope to incorporate into a larger piece. I don't know where my brain goes sometimes, but every once and a while I love the result, no matter how silly....those things under his mouth are very home-made reins, that I didn't bother drawing in all the way. XD
Now mark you, humming horses are a bit of a silly investment for the average beetle-sized equestrian. You have to buy a bridle that buckles behind the poll and somehow convince the hyperactive thing to stand still and hold its mouth all the way open (this author recommends copious bribes of sugar water). Oh they're flashy mounts, but much too flighty for the average fairy to handle. This youngster is only about five years old and has yet to get off the ground.

That's an awesome idea! I love horses, so of course I would think that, but still - this is even cooler than unicorns.

Oh my gosh this is so beautiful!! I am so in love with this design, I have never seen anything like it. The beak is gorgeous and so delicate and how you managed to work it with that equine skull is lovely. I just love the small, fluttery wings and the beautiful hooves. The feathery tail is lovely too. I think the anatomy is also gorgeous as always, especially the chest and muscles on the inner left leg. I absolutely must demand that you draw this fanciful creature more often.

ohh wow, I love, love this,. All the little background information you put up about them makes me just fall in love with them even more. I wish I could turn into a Thumbalina and ride one for a day <3 I'd be in heaven. You must draw more of this cute little breed.

Well, I believe fairies were originally supposed to be somewhat malevolent and creepy, so it works

The texture on the feathers is wonderful! I especially like the hooves. They remind me of Hershey's Kisses.
