Description I took this photo at a expozition of live reptiles in the Natural History Museum of Iasi.
A single bite from a Black Mamba can kill up to 20 to 25 grown men. A bite from a Black Mamba is 100% fatal unless anti-venom is given in time.
Death can result between 15 minutes and 3 hours depending on the nature of the bite. This involves factors as such as location of the bite, amount of venom injected and penetration of one or both fangs.

That's not a Black Mamba, though, but a Mozambique Black Cobra. Black Mambas aren't even black, but a light silvery-tan color; "mamba" means "mouth" in Swahili, and the inside of their mouths is a blueish-black, like a Chow-Chow's. They're also very skinny snakes, almost anorexic-looking, with long, narrow, coffin-shaped heads. THIS guy would be worse to mess with than a Mamba, since he wouldn't even have to bite you to envenomate you; this speies can "spit" its venom accurately into your eyes from as much as 10 feet away.
