I saw a science program about two years ago on a scientist' study of jumping spiders.Β And he showed that though the outer lens are fixed, the arachnid can adjust their focus through manipulating the cones that guide the light to the back of the eyes.Β So they can see both near and far as we do.Β Neat!

I'm afraid of spiders but this photo really shows how beautiful these little creatures can be. Your photos are so lovingly taken I think these images alone could help me conquer my fear.

I feel like maybe the jumping spider should take the place of the wise old owl as the figurehead of wisdom with its big ol' front facing eyes and slightly smaller less wise but still present giant eyes on the side of its head.

Wow. How did you get the spider to be still when you were changing focal depths? Difficult for me to take pictures of living things because they move. I've never really tried focus stacking but may have to start. Honestly great picture though! I love it.
