Description

This species is no longer active and is currently being rewritten! Most of the information is still accurate but Pyros together with Cryos will be moved into one species called Elementals.

Species/Binomial name - Daimóni Ignis.

Common name - Pyro.

Kin - Elemental Demon (Daimónen-naturae).

Recorded amount - 150.000~

Age (of discovery) - 1 200 000~ Gyres (4.8 mil. Years)

Homeplanet - Skara & Caoria

[Skara remains an active planet, and has a fair population of about a quarter of a billion Pyros freely roaming it. Caoria’s population was evacuated and moved to Skara due to unexpected weather conditions.]

[Skara consists of mainly semiarid deserts and xeric shrublands, with smaller concentrated areas of monsoon forests along the equator where the pyros prefer to live. Caoria remains inactive with ash covered deserts and frequent dust storms.]

- STATUS -

Scarce, pretty rare, around 150.000* registered in each universe. They’re fairly hard to come across due to being a rather shy species, but they’re very easy to spot due to their unique and distinct looks.

[*this estimate is calculated using Mean Values, however it is difficult to determine its accuracy due to the very inconsistent amounts of pyros in each universe. Some universes have billions, while others barely hit 1000.]

Average life-span - Around 230 years (57.5 Gyres)

Average height - 6’’1

Habitat
Oddly enough, Pyros don’t mind colder habitats, unless it’s freezing. They’re able to survive immense levels of heat, so areas like deserts, tropics or other generally hot areas are a preference. Their preference on company is indifferent. They avoid everyone, and are extremely shy around others.

Hostility
Not hostile at all. They’re very peaceful, unless you attempt to harm their loved ones.

Diet
Likes anything that burns. They eat a bit of everything: meat, plants, and every now and then likes to bite on some bark.

Reproduction
They reproduce with other species as normal through intercourse, as well as with each other. They do not have mating seasons, and are monogamous.

Normal maternity for a baby is 9-10 months. The baby itself is born with no flame, and are only officially “born” once both the mother and father share their flames with the child to bring it to life. If the child is left alone without being ignited, its skin will harden and it will turn to stone.

Language
Pyros speak a language known as Eldaric, a fairly common language that is spoken within their solar system, and spoken most commonly on Skara. Eldaric is fairly well-known around the Primoverse that originates from the planet of Eldara, a large well-populated planet that is the home to many varying races with the same collective language.
Of course, Pyros who do not live on Skara adapt to their environments, and pick up on the languages that surround them making each language unique to the individual.

However, it is suspected that all demonkin races, before they started to spread, spoke one collective language together that later died out. This was theorized after studying their language patterns where the development, acquisition and maintenance of their speech showed that their root pronunciation and speech did not match the patterns of the stem-language Primoric, which all language is based after. Though what this language is/was remains unknown.

Overview

A Pyro is a spirit of Fire, with a general humanoid build and a flaming surface. Just like other demons, they’re very in touch with their emotions, though unlike demons like Carnals, they’re rarely angry and are mostly feeling a plethora of other emotions. Depending on what emotion they’re feeling, their flames change color (see below).

They are able to have two or more colors present for more advanced and complex emotions, and they can also mix in some ways.

Pyros are classified as demons because of their two minds. The first mind is their physical body, made up of seemingly hardened lava or some type of softer rock. Along their skin are long, thin cracks that follow in a branch-like pattern where the flames emerge from.

The second is the Spirit, which is classed as the “demon”. This demon had no body and is made up of pure flames that come from the cracks in their hardened skin, giving the pyro its signature fiery appearance.

They lack physical strength, but make up for it in firepower. As you could predict, Pyros are able to conjure, create and manipulate flames. They can create their own flames, and also manipulate flames outside of their body such as candles, fireplaces, bonfires, etc…

As well as creating and manipulating regular flames, their spirit gives them the ability to use their spirit form, where they increase their flame temperature to scorching degrees, to the point where their stone body melts apart and can be animated and reformed. This allows the Pyro to fuse their body with the flames, and harness their full power. This form is known as their Ignis form, where they can shift form however they like, increase and decrease in size, jump between flames, hover for a limited time and use their flames as projectile weapons. This also lets them use all of their flames like firebending to create all kinds of attacks and moves.

Only full-blood Pyros can use this ability. Hybrids are unable to unlock this due to their bodies not being adaptable to being melted down and manipulated. Once a full-blood pyro has run out of energy, their temperature decreases to their normal level, where their body hardens back up and returns to normal.

It is uncertain how the Pyro’s physical body actually works. They seem to possess the ability and need to consume food and water, as well as sleep, despite their bodies lacking any real organic structure that would require sustenance. When asking pyros about this habit, they respond by stating that they need to consume some type of food in order to keep their flames burning and their spirit healthy. Without a healthy spirit, it risks burning out, which in turn will kill the pyro and turn their body to stone.

As for reproductive organs it’s also a bit unclear how they actually mate with one another. They don’t seem to have any direct DNA, cells or any other organic material in them, and instead use a part of their own demonic spirit as a substitute for genetic code, where it seems like a female grows the child inside her by using parts of her own body that she collects over time, melted together to create the body of the baby, and using parts of both her own spirit and the father’s spirit to create the spirit for the child.

As for breeding with people of another species it seems to only be guaranteed to work if the pyro is Male, as the baby from a male non-pyro is less likely to survive inside the mother and isn’t being given the correct temperature or nutrients that the growing child would need inside the mother’s stone-like insides. It isn’t impossible, considering the mother is able to regulate her own body temperature and internal structure to accommodate for the baby, however this does require some more careful focus and energy from the mother to ensure the baby’s survival.

As for how this works with their DNA and the mother’s lack of biological genes is beyond our understanding. It seems as if a pyro’s spirit isn’t simply just flames; it has its own genetic code inside of it, as its own substitute to replace chromosomes, DNA, cells and other nucleic acids that would normally be shared between the two parents. Everything that a Pyro is, is stored in their flames; NOT their body.

This is an incredibly interesting and mind blowing discovery, and is currently commonly classed as being “unsolvable” between experts in the field.

Pyros have a tendency to breed with people of different races besides their own. When two pyros have a child together, they inherit the parents signature fiery look, however if it’s a half-breed between a pyro and another species, the pyro genes will always remain recessive and invisible to the naked eye.

The only way to identify whether a person is part Pyro is to look at the shimmers of their hair. You’re able to see a slight shift in hues in their hair depending on their general mood and emotion.

The reason they’re always recessive is that only a part of the pyro’s spirit gets shared with the offspring, not their actual genes that makes them stone-like in their appearance. While they may share similar facial features, body types and personality with their pyro mother or father, their rocky body stays with the parent.

Despite popular belief, water cannot harm a pyro. If you throw water at them, it’ll only temporarily extinguish their flames and expose their rock-like skin, and the flames will then regrow over their body in a couple minutes or so. Their body is able to stay warm enough to evaporate water, and letting the water in for example ponds, lakes and oceans gently cool their body temperature down without harming the flame spirit or hardening their stone body.

The only known way to properly kill a pyro is to freeze them. Freezing them will choke out their flames and kill the spirit, which in turn makes the pyro become an empty shell without any core heating, easily being subdued and eventually begin hardening into stone. Using freezing water to temporarily evaporate the flames and then quickly freezing them has proven to be the most effective method.

Separating the spirit from the pyro’s body is unfortunately a common practice that a handful of people do. Some villagers from snow-covered planets have been known to locate a pyro either from the southern hotter hemispheres of their planets, or from other planets in general, and take them back home. Once back home, they’ll separate the spirit and keep them inside of a closed out box such as a furnace, boiler, or any of the sort in order to keep their home warm and to heat up warm water. The pyro’s body is left outside to slowly freeze in the cold, eventually hardening into a stone statue beyond recovery.

This practice is illegal, as Pyros aren’t a disposable species because of their dropping numbers in population.

There is a well known tundra field filled with these stone-turned pyros on the planet Cratharus, where thousands of years ago this practice of taking advantage of a pyro’s kindness for their warm spirits was incredibly common. Cratharus is a snowy planet, and the inhabitants of it needed warmth, and so they turned to the pyros. The pyro people, being kind-hearted and generous, allowed them to use their flames every now and then to keep warmth and to ensure their species didn’t die out from the cold.

However the people grew greedy and demanding, and began keeping their spirits for longer periods of time for their own comfort, until they flat out refused to give them back to the pyros. The pyro people couldn’t live long without their flames, and wandered out into the snowy tundra where they froze and now stand dormant as empty stone statues.

The pyros saved a species by sacrificing their own. Today this story is often told over and over to serve as a reminder to never take advantage of the Kind. This pyro graveyard now stands as a famous example of this inhumane practice.

This field has been re-named as the Tinder’s Tundra, and is often visited by travelers to pay their respects for those who lost their lives to greed.

General Behaviours

Removing flames to touch someone - Considered affectionate to touch someone that isn't a pyro who would otherwise be burnt by the flames. They know their flames are very harmful to regular skin and tends to avoid physical contact with anyone they come across, so if they cool their hand down just so they can hold your hand, it means they probably really care about you.

Flames hanging low - The less vibrant and animated their flames are, the worse they may feel, either due to illness, injury, sadness or anything alike.

Thank you so so much! That means so much to hear ^^ I keep thinking like "Maybe I'm going a bit overkill with all this information" but that's one of the most fun part about creating species. I like keeping things logical and scientific but still mystical and mysterious. ^3^
