Man, there is nothing more I want to do than play the harp...No other instrument interests me as much. ;w;

I\'ve been studying them for a very long time now though, don\'t know when I can get the money to afford a concert harp...

OH! Is that harp Style 85 Semi Grand from Lyon and Healy? I plan on picking up a L&H Ogden Celtic Harp over the summer, it\'s the most I can afford...

Okay I\'m done blathering. :[

Nyaaa! I have the exact same model and finish! My harp guardian is a little carved wooden bear though. ^_^ I love my harp. How many years have you been playing?

What pedals do you use when you lay the harp and could you educate me on the pedals and what they do my self I don't play a harp I play a guitar

bookworm12890 In reply to awash2002 [2007-01-28 01:53:22 +0000 UTC]

There are seven pedals on the bottom of a pedal harp, each corresponding to a note in the scale. It has three positions, the up being flat, the middle natural, and the bottom sharp.

What pedals do you normaly use?

bookworm12890 In reply to awash2002 [2007-01-28 15:31:36 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, they're all used pretty evenly, depending on the key of the piece and the accidentals in it. If there was one we moved the most, it actually seems to be the 'A' pedal, but that's just with the pieces I play. I'm sure it all evens out in the end.

Ok. Could you please educate me about the Harp it self along with the pedals because it is one of my favorite instrument I play guitar and depending on what key I am in the chord progression will be this some times C A D A D or if I want to play say in the key of G the chords will look like this D G D A Em E G A D G

Well, I know nothing about guitar, so I'm not really sure what you mean. In harp, you set the pedals the determine the key, and you don't have to move them unless an accidental outside the key shows up. There are three colored strings- the 'c' strings are red, the 'f' are blue or black, and all the others are white or clear.

A guitar is almost like a harp being a stringed instrument that you hold in your hands or with the use of a guitar strap one hand is for strumming the guitar with either your fingers or a pick and one hand is used for chording either your right hand or left hand the basic chords are A B C D E F G most of the chords I play are D A D A G F C E G and these are all basic open major chords what I will do is I will make you a recording with each of the chords that I play so you can hear how they sound

Ah. My dad plays (or used to), but I don't know much about it still. Harp doesn't seem too similar to it, though. For one thing, while one hand plays the notes in guitar and the other is on the higher part of the strings to do the chord... things, harp you play the notes with both hands. It's one of the few instruments that does that, I believe... at least in strings, unless you count harpiscord and organs and pianos in that category.

With harp or guitar? You don't really strum on harp, except in certain effects.

bookworm12890 In reply to awash2002 [2007-01-30 23:03:15 +0000 UTC]

I don't know anything about guitar. I know on harp you can mimic the sound of the guitar, but I'm not sure how or even if it's possible to do it the other way around. Sorry.

awash2002 In reply to bookworm12890 [2007-01-30 23:20:49 +0000 UTC]

one way I can kinda mimic it is by picking each string one at a time and with my hand and not the pick I strum the strings

Sure. I think there's something online that could probably teach it better than I could. I'll try to find it... do you know if guitars play in treble or bass clef? I can't remember.

awash2002 In reply to bookworm12890 [2007-01-31 05:21:58 +0000 UTC]

Treble Clefs for the 6 string guitars now bass guitar playes in the bass clef

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bookworm12890 In reply to awash2002 [2007-01-31 14:30:28 +0000 UTC]

Ok. In treble clef, the lowest line on the staff is E. The line above that is G, then B, D, and F. Some people use little things like, 'Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge,' to remeber that.
