Description
Something that hasn't been uploaded with the Street Fighter x Pokemon illustrations are various assets, including the health bar and special attack meters that are seen in this picture. They were uploaded as part of Tumblr posts so be sure to head over to my Tumblr to see those as extra goodies!That said, I designed the first two illustrations between the iconic SF fighters and brothers to interact with one another. The illustrations were drawn in a way to resemble pre-battle animations in 2D fighting games, so theoretically, all the illustrations could be placed on one canvas facing one another to create some sort of fight sequence ready to unfold. In this case, Ryu and Ken are warming up for their friendly spar!
This is the only duo of the mini series with a set with images that lock together. The background being white was too plain after I set everything up so I looked for an artsy fartsy way to add some spice, and I used Google to pull up a nice scenic background that was fitting and edited it to look a bit pixely like a video game background. So to make it clear, I did not paint the background.

I'll chime in now and then as I don't have a particular favorite who would win more than the other - I see both teams as equals!

So how would the fighting system work? Do you tag in and out with your pokemon, or is there a special button to control them, similar to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure?

The way i saw it was that rather than say, winning "2 out of 3", the Street Fighters send out their Pokemon first. The Pokemon duke it out until one person falls. The moment the first Pokemon falls, the winning team wins a "round". The Pokemon are tagged out and the Street Fighters come out. The SF fighters duke it out, and if the SF whose Pokemon wins the round, they win the set. If not, the rounds are matched 1 to 1. At this point, the Pokemon come back out and duke it out until a winner is decided.
One other mechanic I thought for this imaginary game was to allow the trainers to come in and block an oncoming attack. Pokemon however cannot take a hit when the SFers are fighting. If a SFer takes a hit from a Pokemon, that Pokemon retreats immediately and 2 SFers are on the field. There is no possible scenario where a human fights a Pokemon.
I suppose what you mentioned regarding JBA would work too, if a sort of "shadow battle" occurs while SFer fight one another and other buttons control the Pokemon. I dunno! There's a lot of room to explore fun concepts! Mostly I just wanted to have a story for why the teams were created for illustration sake!
