So recently we suddenly had a Paperman AU/crossover idea with Wizard of Oz and it’s sort of taken it’s own twist and such and I’m really liking it all so far and am already kind of planning to have it an original sort of thing on it’s own of a take on Oz with what we’ve developed so far on origins and such.
With this here I definitely took inspiration from the musical Wicked, (which I’ve always had a guilty pleasure for even though the story is so-so and all but dang the songs!) with the Witch of the West being with the scarecrow, where he was human before but she turned him into that to save him. Mobs were angry they were together and such.

I guess that’s the main thing still tied with the musical, because added on top of that he loses his memory of her as well. Scarecrow isn’t just looking for a brain in this, he’s looking for the mind he lost.

They are cute tragic babies and make me sad.
