This is an old picture I did back in 2017 which... I never posted. I even half painted it...But since I never finished the painting, here is the original sketch.

The tree house is Ben's home. A large tree on the outskirts of a thriving jungle city is where Ben has spent most of his young life. Ben toiled to create the tree house with pieces of wreckage from sunken coastal ships complimenting the the craftsmanship of whatever creature handily left the interior of the tree hollow. It's a bit make-shift, but it's the best he could do. And it is enough for him.

Far from regularly traveled paths, most people don't even know of this place save for the local fisherman who sail by heading out to sea. It sits closer to the edge of the wilds than most people would dare settle in. At night, lanterns light up this beacon on the water, signaling a large brackish inlet which nuzzles the great city and market that Ben frequents.

It might seem like a lonely place, and for the most part you'd be right. But distance from society provides an odd assortment of occasional creatures to talk to. Those creatures of the wilds who might shy away from the bustling eyes of local townsfolk. One regular visitor, one of Ben's only friends, is the pink haired siren calling herself, Kai.

Kai often comes to the tree house to tease Ben and keep him company. Ben will often encounter her while lazily sitting out on a branch fishing and passing the hot days away beneath the cool shade of the tree. When the boy is not out and about, Kai has made sure she has multiple means to grab Ben's attention when she arrives (or rather, Kai was surprised to find these means left for her by Ben). Though he might not always let it show, Ben enjoys Kai's visits, and has made several accommodations accessible to the playful siren. Her particular favorite being an old hand-made swing which is just too much fun to jump off of into the water.

I hope you listened to that audio track above while looking at the picture or reading about Ben's home. It was custom-made by myself to fit this image and I personally find it extremely relaxing just to listen to while I work. It's full of little secrets too. You might hear Ben moving around through the branches, a rock thrown in the water, Ben re-baiting and casting out line, and... if you're lucky, you just might hear a mermaid's laugh as she plays with Ben.
