I can imagine some cool teenagers come to Beach City, acting all big and bad, walk into the Big Donut. Steven, being Steven, walks up to talk to them. They say mean comments that Steven lets slide, believing everyone has a nice side. Sadie and Lars see it. Sadie tells Steven to not go near those guy, that their jerks. Steven thinks on the advice but meets them again the next day on the boardwalk, he finds out the leader of the cool guys was in Beach City cause his mom was from there and wanted to see what was so great about it. Steven says that his mom was from Beach City too but wasn't anymore, and that Beach City was a great place. Lars and Sadie walks out from the arcade as the teenagers start cracking on the city as Steven defends it, saying his mom loved Beach City.
The leader says that shows how dumb his mom was, and shoves him on the ground. Sadie gets ready to walk out there but Lars bets her to it. Lars stand in front of Steven and yells at the cool kids to back off that there was nothing wrong with Beach City even if it is boring. He goes on to say that they didn't know Steven's mom, but that she was a nice woman that found beauty in everything, in ugly moss, this stupid city, even in jerks like them. The leader then punches Lars only to get gut punched by Sadie. The teenagers are chased away by Sadie, joined by Jenny and Buck (who saw the whole thing) Steven asks if Lars is okay, who tells him he's fine but asked if Steven was okay. Steven nods and thanks Lars for standing up for him. Lars ruffles his hair and tells him sure but to not read too much into this.
That's what I see going down! (o☆▽☆)o

WOW Imagine if the homeworld gems attack the earth and for reasons the gems, his dad and Connie are all somewhere else or busy or maybe hurt, and for reasons Steven can't use his powers maybe because he's too scared or idk and then Lars tries to protect him even knowing he will loose.

He doesn't really need to be "Redeemed" he's just a normal teenage boy who never put anybody in danger! lol
In fact, it's pretty much his friends that put his life in danger every time.

Very true, I guess I should have said that you made Lars somewhat likable. I know he's a teen and all, but thats not really an excuses for some of his actions. Especially when he's just 'too cool' to be nice to anyone aside form the people he wants to be cool with (and maybe Saddie).

Oh sure, Lars is a jerk. He has no excuses. But he doesn't think he's cool at all and shows a lot of signs of emotional issues and mental illness, which explain many of his actions. (But not excuse them.)
He obviously has low self esteem and craves for approval more than anything. And he's had a lot of character development since Joking Victim, regardless of what people want to say! He's not the same now as he was back in that episode, he's chilled a lot.

Those are some very good points, and I can totally see where your coming from. He has gotten a little bit better over time and it would be interesting to see him tackle this issue of low self esteem and maybe became the true him and drop the "cool act"
However it's moments like in Saddies Song where he completely blew Steven off in a very rude way that makes me think he's still a jerk and an ass. And until that moment comes where we look into his history abd what he's going through more (or just him being genuinely nice). He's still gonna be my least favorite character in the show.

Lol, he literally didn't do anything wrong in Sadie's Song and people still think he's an "asshole" for what he "Did". He wasn't given much screen time and blew Steven off for reasons we probably don't even know. He might have been having a bad day or might still be recovering from his LAST encounter with Steven.
After all, just about every time he hangs out with Steven something really bad happens to him. But basically, I do think Lars is a bit of a jerk, but it's because he has social and emotional struggles and problems. He probably can't help himself most of the time, and I'm sure a lot of the time he would LIKE to be different, but he can't control his emotions. I hope he gets some good character development from his upcoming episode "The New Lars", I guess all we can do is wait.
