Yes, most of them are free and there's a lot to see and do. If you ever find yourself in the northern Berks county area visit the schuylkill trails along the schuylkill river. There's a lot to see.

There's Hawk Mountain, which you can climb to the top.
Haven't been up there in years but it's beautiful. A lot of hawks up there and beautiful scenery.
There's a bunch of railroads. I think you can take a tour but I'm not sure on that one.
I'm not sure of any waterfalls but you can google it and see.
The roads are pretty well maintained. I would just recommend a 4x4 vehicle considering it's more mountainous around here.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
Oh and there's crystal cave but I believe that's closed for the winter.
