I think the body proportions look great. A fresh approach to a centaur which blends the two torsos really well. I'd love to see an animation of how she would walk and run.

Shortening the horse portion looks right to me whenever I see. What makes even more sense to me is shortening the human torso. Why does a centaur need both a human belly and a horse belly. It might look strange and unattractive to us, but a centaur should go from human to horse at the ribs not at the waist. You need the upper torso for the arms. 90% of the arm muscles are located on the back and chest. But the lower human torso is not needed. The centaur would still be taller than a horse and horse is plenty tall enough to see over tall grass. Balance and running speed would be improved.

Well, i see two ways the "short' body could make sense. First off, perhaps it is something that was bred or created by some higher intelligence to look a certain way.
OR
Imagine some sort of six legged creature that lived in a jungle and spent most of it's time climbing though the trees. Then over the course of time it evolves in an area that is or has become dryer with trees fewer and farther between. Natural selection results in something that has two sets of legs providing a stable mobile platform. It won't be anywhere near as fast as a horse, but then it didn't evolve from a horse either. I believe there is a theory that humans evolved from something similar, and we weren't/aren't that fast either, but we managed to survive.
On a bit of a side note, I can see this gal rising up on just her back legs in cases where she wants extra reach or perhaps to get a better look around.

This is fantastic. I love the proportions, it looks like it my be a real creature, rather than the atypical centaur where it looks like a human torso glued into an equine neck/body.

very nice work i like the attempt you but not sure what spartadog13 is getting at my only question is why did you give her panties on her front set of legs there's nothing there to cover if she was a female fawn or satyr i could see it but it doesn't make sense here but good deign if you like centaur like characters you should check out frank frazeta's pridelands. is was a serial series in fantasy illustrated where the creatures were centaurish but instead of horses they had big cat bodies lions tigers etc and each was a clan but they didn't have human heads they had what ever cat they were cat head huma torso and cat body

I don't think it is so much panties as shorts. If you think about it, natural movement would cause clothing worn at only the back to move the rear. She would constantly be pulling her pants back up. By extending clothing froward her front and front legs keep her shorts in place.
Yes a belt would also keep her shorts from moving past her back hips. But if she wants her back covered, a belt won't keep anything forward of her back hips in place. She narrows from her front hips to her back hips. Her pants would want to move from her front where they are tight to the back where they loose. Or maybe she doesn't want to wear a belt because it chafes or puts pressure on her belly. And hey fashion.

i'm not really sure what you are trying to get at as i never mentioned a belt or shorts but what i was saying is the fact that the clothing, panties shorts or otherwise is not important to have there as nothing is there. and the way it's modeled it looks like she has panties trying to cover up non existent genitalia which is why i commented on the fact that it looks like panties. also i was not saying that she should only have clothing in the back and i am not sure what the whole second paragraph is about. besides it has been my experience that female and male centaurs where no clothing except on their human torsos but that part is entirely up to the artist.

My point was that to keep pants, shorts, panties or whatever you call them covering her hind quarters you need to EITHER extend them to the front or use a belt. Otherwise they will fall off. Her own movement will push any clothing NOT secured to the back.
She doesn't have material at the front to cover up a non-existent genitalia but to keep pants from falling off the back and exposing her genitalia back there.
The belt-less garment with no front you want her to wear will NOT STAY ON. I know YOU did not mention a belt. I am telling you that without a belt panties would not stay on her. (modern elestic would also work but she doesn't look like she has access to industrial technology.)
Also I have no idea why you call her lower garment panties when they are clearly some sort of practical outerwear.

I appreciate trying to do something different by giving her 4 human "back" legs instead of animal forelegs, but I don't think it worked. An animal with 4 back legs wouldn't be able to walk. Her front legs need to be able to bend the opposite way. Her legs are also way too long for her to walk without stepping on herself. I think you should do a little more anatomical research, then try again.

Beautiful and creative. I love when centaurs are not based on horses, but instead on what I would assume is some kind of gazelle? Maybe I'm wrong about which animal but is still pretty awesome. Great work!

I think this is beautiful and never seen anything so mesmerizing,, can you imagine a relationship with one of these?? -- where would it sleep and would it be comfortable.. the genitalia would assume would take the rear end and no longer the front because of the sternum bone,, she just looks so comfortable...

Finally, a centaur with a small underbody. I always have felt that would be the default body if Centaurs were actual living beings. The problem with it though, is the gait. Normal horse-like walking and running is not possible because of the small space between the legs, unless you drastically revisit the gait.

Not quite. > 1.bp.blogspot.com/-1X55VQZWp0A…
The thing is to not get them to trip over their own legs. Which would be no problem with the classic centaur. But with shortend centaurs, that is a problem.

I was thinking the smae just that I always imagine centaurs with the big underbody according to their size, that is. I can't imagine this one walking properly, maybe with tinier deer legs it could work better... or maybe she's not made to run.
