Clock Tower of İzmir - TURKEYPresently, the Turks refer to Izmir as "Güzel İzmir", i.e. Beautiful Izmir. Konak Square forms the heart of the city and is named after the Ottoman government mansion hükümet kona The late-Ottoman Saat Kulesi or Clock Tower was given to the city by Sultan Abdul Hamit II in 1901. It is the symbol of Izmir and is depicted on the city's flag.
