To be totally honest, I was literally stumped when this brief appeared at 8AM this morning (Timezone differences being convenient for once!) Even more so because it is of course the tenth day, which means the Octaparents have to put in an appearance.
Honestly, I don't think this is my best work, I could have done so much better, but I'm just so tired this evening which explains the sloppy line work on this. Those of you in England will know of course that this weekend is a Bank Holiday (For other readers, try imagining an extra day for the weekend for no apparent reason) And for me working in cafe, it is a living nightmare filled with people who really should have better manners an etiquette than they display before me. And that's coming from someone at least half their age!
So remember, this bank holiday, go a little easier on people who are working like me to make your day off enjoyable, we're only working to the best of our capabilities.

How do you draw a pony standing up, while still keeping the proportions correct? I'm trying to draw an OC for someone, while she's standing in front of a canvas.

Right,
For this I usually use a 'two circles' approach. Basically, sketch out the first circle, that will be the base of the head. Then underneath that circle sketch another one to be the base for the rump and back of the hind legs at exactly the same size. You should be able to judge proportions correctly when you're sketching these circles, but for me they usually end up 2-3cm apart, but that's probably just how small I draw!
When you've got the base like that sorted, just fire away adding the correct body shap to make it a pony.

See...I knew Octamum wasn't the only deviant in the family. Now I'm even more convinced that Octavia has a wicked streak that she just keeps hidden from Vinyl.
Always bothers me when artists say this isn't their best work because I still think it looks fantastic and I feel foolish for not being able to tell the difference between 'good' and 'could have been so much better.' I'm so happy you're doing this art brief things because there's always something every day from you.

I just it all down to tiredness really. Being on your feet without a break for eight hours is like a form of torture. Add on top of that a load of ignorant customers shouting at me as they think I'm the manager since I'm one of te only guys who works there and it just really brings you down.
