Mineral(s): Mordenite and Quartz
Locality: Traprock quarries, New Jersey, USA

Here we have colorless to pale green quartz crystals sitting on a carpet of fibrous white mordenite crystals on a basalt matrix (which exact quarry in NJ this comes from I am unsure of). Mordenite is an uncommon zeolite mineral that often forms in a fibrous habit like this. The quartz may have trace amounts of chlorite or another mineral that would turn some of the crystals green.

This picture was created via image stacking with 44 images to get this depth of field! I found it somewhat difficult to execute this shot as there isn't too much contrast between the quartz and the mordenite. Doesn't this look like a frozen scene?
